I'd have to go to zero body fat and chop off a leg to get to the "normal" weight.

When I was in great shape (high school and college) I had between 3-5% body fat and weighed 250-260 (I'm 5'6")

now I weigh the same but with 20-25% body fat.

I'm actually in a Weight Watchers program here at work, and I think it's an easy program. I really added weight when I started office work, and I never did anything about it until now. I'm looking at dropping around 75lbs in all.

I skate a few times a week, depending on the weather, for around 45 minutes to an hour, at a pretty intense rate. Meanwhile, all these housewives complain at the meeting about how they need to cook dinner and watch their kids, but they're all full of it. They just don't like being active. Actually, I lost my job. Depression does wonders. 2.5 months unemployed, not collecting unemployment, worrying about money, not leaving my apartment, eating brown and white rice, only drinking water, that shaved off about 40 pounds in that time period. The rest I loss while actively watching my eating habits(after I got another job, I started shopping again...and buying healthy food). I actually got down to 240. Then I moved back in with my parents, and the eating habits went down the toilet.

Doing a little better eating now, but just started working out more regularly. Goal is to hit 190lbs by the end of the year. I'm 26 years old and haven't seen under 200lbs since 7th grade.

5'9" 191.4 as of this morning.
I topped out @ about 205 back in February and I'm hoping to get back down to 165 in time for my wedding March 12, 2005.

Rightnow my fiance and I are doing the same thing Wayne Knight (aka Seinfeld's Newman) did - Susan's Healthy Gourmet. I buy all my food for the week from this company. It a healthy, actually tasty and filling 1800 calorie a day meal plan (1100 plus some random snacks to get to about 1300 a day for my fiance).

So far there's been very little that I've not enjoyed. Last night's lentils had some crazy-gross spices on them that made them inedible, but that and the V-8 are about hte only things I haven't been willing to eat.

Today I had "french toast" and a hotdog sized sausage (chicken, I think) along with a 6 oz. can of pineapple juice & a large strawberry for breakfast. For lunch I had a tuna & brocolli casserole and apple sauce. There's also a salad & some pudding that I'll be eating pretty soon.

ANyway, the food is good, I've learned to parse the breakfast & lunch over the course of the day so I don''t get too hungry, and it's about 1000x more convienient than anything else I've tried. I'm a lazy bastard by nature, so it's totally worth it for me to pay what is really an exorbitant amount for my food to be prepared. I like cooking, but I can't motivate myself to do it every night, along with dishes, shopping, etc. THere are too many McDonald's nights when I'm left to my own devices.

Sorry for the long post, especially because I'm guessing most people DON"T CARE. But I wanted to talk about it with someone, so whoever actaully read this, you are that person!

Well, I think excercise really is the key. I have looked at fad diets, atkins, south beach, etc., etc. For me, and of course everyone is different it really comes down to metabolism. If I am in shape, not drinking a lot, and excercise at least an hour a day 6 days a week, I can eat as much as I want (except for the MacTacoBell King crap) and not worry about gaining weight. If I get sedintary, and indulge my love for the finer whiskeys, I gain weight. Unfortunately due to job related stress for last 6 months, I have been doing the latter. Now, as for where I should be, my ideal weight for my build and age is about 180. I am at 210 right now. I figure, 60 days if I apply myself, 120 if I don't.

Well I am a 28 on the dumb ass chart. Doh. I know I could stand to loose about 10, which would drop me to about 175.

Honestly, I don't think I could get into the 162 pound range without loosing a lot of muscle mass. I don't know that I would ant to drop past 175. I'd be too small. In my hobbies (Boxing, sailing) its a good idea to be strong and have a bit of mass to put behind something.

I was a fat little kid, if that means anything. Wore a 38 waist when I was in middle school. 32 since high school (well, except for a coupla of lazy years).

I'm 27 and am getting into better shape than I was in when I rode the wheels off of a bike the summer after I graduated High School. I weigh a bit more now but it's muscle mass. At 25, I just decided that I wasn't going to be looking back on the days I was fit and thinking "how hard will it be to get back to that?" So, I dropped 20 pounds last fall and I'm sitting at just about 186 or 187 right now. IT takes work, but God knows I could be more dedicated with my diet. If I didn't have the occasional drinking fest and occasional Mexican food night of eating more than I can hold, I'd be under 185 by now.

In terms of weight and sizes thats pretty similar to what I've done except I never went through a real aggressive weight loss period. I think I have plateaued though. When I graduated from college in May 01 I was probably between 290 and 300 lbs (I'm around 6'3" 6'4"). I think I'm currently around 240 and it seems like I've been at this weight for quite a while. I've been getting in better shape by exercising but I haven't been losing more weight. Most of the weight loss has just come from a change in diet. I don't have a really restricted diet but I have really cut back on junk food snacks and fast food meals. I'm sure the increase in exercise has helped with some of the weight loss too.
