I am bringing my Impreza in for a 4 wheel alignment in a few hours. I just put in new P1 suspension that lowers the car 20mm. I read that I am supposed to have the setting put the following: 0.75 degree camber and 1/16" - 3/32" toe out. Is this correct?

No, get the maximum negative camber if you have front adjustable camber bolts, -1.2 in the front. I have .06 degree toe OUT in the front and rear, which is equivalent to the 1/16th inch.

I think you should be careful with your negative camber adjustments (-1.2"). I drive about 100 miles a day. That much negative camber would kill my tires in a big hurry. For an autocross or track day the numbers would be great, but for everyday driving?

Edit: How did I miss the toe out? I suppose I'm still paraniod about camber. Had a Ford F-250. Everytime we hauled with that thing the camber on the front would go way wacko to the negative numbers. Chewed up tires very fast. But Colin is right, the toe is a bigger concern.

Tune to Win by Carroll Smith
(about the same age, more complicated and not as easy on the beginner, and Carroll is a bit arrogant. Carrol has a newer book, Drive to Win that has good information about modern struts and a very interesting section on differentials.)

I have a few others at home but I know they're out of print and these two are not. Additionally you'll find some good conceptual / high-level info in the chassis sections of Going Faster! by Carl Lopez and Bob Bondurant on High Performance Driving. (Bondurant is even more arrogant than Carroll Smith.)

If you're not hardcore, start with Going Faster! as it is a great driving foundation and a fair vehicle dynamics primer.

I think extreme toe will wear tires much faster than -1.2 degrees of negative camber.

Nowhere in the world except autocross will you see someone recommend rear toe out. Read some chassis tuning books and find out why, or just don't do it for street and track driven cars.
