View Full Version : Omori boost swap = jumpy needle?

I just swapped my stock column mount for an Omori. IT seems that I now get a "jumpy needle" at idle, and even at PT, etc. Anyone have any idea of what this is indicative of ? I also installed I/C/ hoses, but I'm 99.999% sure that those are all set. I reused my stock column mount hose and tapped the electrical lines appropriately. Any ideas?

-I'm thinking about pulling the guage back out of the housing (suk!) and checking everything again, but I'm still getting correct readings, so who knows.

-Thanks

electronic or mechanical boost gauge? Sounds like mechanical.

did you use a diffuser? which omori T did you use?

(sorry - lacked info before )

-mechanical boost gauge, just swapped with the stock lamco on column. THat sucker shakes so bad at start up i SWEAR it rattles.
I have to drop of a tire for plugging today, so I'll pay more attention around lunch time.

Nope, no diffuser that I installed. If one came with the stock column guage, it might be in, but I have no clue. I thought all I had to do was some minor wiring and try to fit that sucker in the pod........but, let me check the inst. again on j-spec's web site.

I'm using the 45mm Omori mechanical boost gauge in my stock gauge pod, and the needle is not erratic at all. It is very smooth/linear, and it doesn't "jump" at idle. I also used the existing line and just wired in the backlight. Check to see if there's a small leak somewhere, or it might be a problem with the gauge itself (damaged during shipping, etc.).
