I purchased my '04 wrx in april and was very pleased with how smooth the sale went. I'm a first time buyer (been driving my '91 yota 4x4 for 9 years :D ) so i did lots'o research before deciding to buy just before they started to get '05 models. I told them what price i wanted and got very close to it, plus 1.9% financing

I payed $23,000 on a $25,300 sticker wrx wagon, which is pretty good from what i can tell. It had just over 100 miles on it (thats what i get for buying at the end of the model year).

The staff were very friendly and moderately knowledgeable about the wrx and sti. What i liked was that when i asked them a question that they didn't know, they admitted it and said they would find out, which is much better than lying.

The service department is great for anyone not planning on tuning their car. They won't void your warranty for installing aftermarket parts, but they will not cover work under warranty unless you put the car back to stock. They seemed to have good attitudes about it but i have a feeling you would have a hassle getting them to cover work if they find you have modified your car.

I had them change the oil at 1000 miles (first ones free of course) and they thought that it was ridiculous to get the oil changed that soon. They also said that synthetic oil has no advantage over regular oil unless you want to go longer between oil changes  . sure buddy.... and they use chevron fluids for everything. Service department didn't score any points except for being friendly and answering all of my questions. some guy came in asking how to reset his ecu and they looked at him like he was crazy. Basically, this is an excellent service department for your grandparents subaru or nissan.

In summary, good place to buy, but you may not make friends with the service guys after modifying your scooby. Hope this helps! - Chris

Yeah, but they NEVER call you back, what's the point of telling you they'll find out about it?

I took my business elsewhere because they just don't seem to care enough.

Come to think of it, they never did get back to me about my questions...but i knew the answer anyway so i forgot to press them (i like to test sales men...cruel perhaps...but completely necessary :D ) This was my first buying experience at a dealership, so in all fairness I have nothing to compare it to except for what friends and family have been through. I think you make a valid point bemani. - Chris

My friend took his WRX there for transmission problems. They said
they couldn't duplicate the issue, ( I can duplicate it within 1 mile).
Then when he got it back, there was smoke billowing out from the hood scoop due to oil they spilled in the engine bay. The coolant sensor was left unplugged, and the car is making a strange noise from the clutch now.

I promptly took my transmission problem (which is far less worse than his), to another dealership. They were able to duplicate the issue and rebuilt my transmission.

I give a huge suby thumbs down for Shingle Springs.

Another huge thumbs down to Shingle Springs. I put in an upgraded security shock sensor module, and with the 05s, they need to be programmed with some Subaru software to activate it. The module comes with instruction on how to do that, but of course, I don't have the equipment (Subaru Select Monitor), so I brought it in for them to do it.

2 hours later ... they still couldn't figure out. What a bunch of frickin' morons. All I got was alot of handprints on my car from them pushing it to test if they got the shock sensor to work. :disco:

And when they figured that they couldn't get it to work, that guy up front, Jeff, had the nerve to tell me (very rudely) that they did what I ask of them, and that I didn't ask them to activate the shock sensor, that I just wanted them to program the remotes. Yeah, sure, buddy. My remotes worked when I got there, and I even gave them the instruction that came with the module.
