OMG, the fog lamps costs $240???
Do they have a mesh cover like the WRX (not the outback grate type)?

Holy Cow! Those new legacy keys are awesome! My master key is kinda screwed up(the plastic is all frayed and scratched up) and I was considering getting an STI key blank but i wasn't totally sure I liked it since it was a bit too flashy. This key is plain but slick looking. Man I can't believe I'm this excited over a key
Now I'll have two items from an 05 Legacy, the sweet leather shift knob with the clear plastic dome over the shift pattern and the key from one.

Many of the 05's come with the Fogs standard.

This is an option for the 2.5i - and no, they do not come with guards, but StonGard already has the templates for the new cars... we should have StonGard head and fog protection soon! :)

and  isnt that new key blank the stuff!!!! :)

definately going on my Subaru Shrine

Can you get these keys with a blank chip?

Got my key today. First off, kudos on the insanely quick shipping. I think I ordered it late Thursday and it arrived to Connecticut from Seattle this afternoon.
As for the key itself, WOW. Just judging by the quality of the key, you can tell that Subaru has really tried to step it up with the new Legacy. The key is really really nice.
Now I have one quick question though regarding getting it cut.
First, can I just go to a Lowes or Home Depot and do it to do I need to bring it to a dealer? Second, I don't have my original master key at my apartment (the one that had the hard black plastic on it). I have it at my parents house but the plastic is all messed up so i switched to carrying the spare(atleast I think it is). How can I differentiate the spare key from the valet key? I assume I'd want this copied to the spare and not the valet since I'd want to be able to get into my glovebox with it. Is the valet key the one that is much wider at the part where it says "Subaru"? Thanks for any info you can provide and thanks Jamie for the awesome item and great service!

I would recommend taking it to a dealer for guaranteed proper cutting and fittament - unless you have a good, edged key for them to copy off of... but if you key is a bit dull, it may not come out 100% correct

see, if you go to the dealership, they dont NEED your spare / other keys. they simply go off of your VIN assigned key CODE. And should be able to access this information via Subaru (if you dont have your key code) - Master key should have an "X" on it... Valet key should have a "Y" on it (engraved into the key stem)

Hope this is what you were looking for. shout with any further questions and thanks again!!!

Thanks for the response Jamie. I was able to figure out which was the valet (by attempting to lock the glovebox). I took the non-valet key to Home Depot and the guy said that he could make a copy but it might not come out and would ruin the key. I decided to risk it and it came out perfectly. Works on everything, ignition, doors, and glovebox. Looks really great on the keyring. I showed somone the key this morning and they thought I just bought a new car
Anyhow, thanks again. I wholeheartidly reccomend this key over the STI key. It's less flashy but is still really nice and well made.

Yes please, be sure you don't use the Valet key to make the copy!
And no, I'm not speaking out of personal experience:lol:

Once again, can you get these keys with a blank chip? I'd like to replace the ugly 05 STI key with one of these.

so you just want a blank chipped version?

no problem
$34.92 + $4 usps shipping

you will need to have it coded at your dealership
i can double check and make sure the chips are compatible, but i do not see why they would not be.

Jamie,

Do me a favor. Write to SoA (be sure to Cc SoJ), and tell them that we GC guys want blanks like that.

While they're at it, we want a bunch of stuff. After all, if it weren't for we placebo-EJ25-buyin' fools, these younguns and their STis and WRXs wouldn't be here, would they?

Thaaaaaaaaaaaaat's right! :D
