View Full Version : ScoobyWorld's Afterburn Vortex are coming to Daddy's
Daddy's SCP 05-26-2004, 07:55 PM In an effort to continually bring you some of the most sought after exhaust products on the market for your scooby we have inked an exclusive deal with ScoobyWorld UK to distribute their very unique Afterburner Vortex exhaust systems to the US. The Afterburner Vortex is a Hayward & Scott build exhaust designed exclusively for ScoobyWorld to their specs. It has the signature sound that Hayward & Scott products are known for and arguably the most power of any 2.5" bolt-on axleback exhaust due to the very unique spiralled baffle design that aids in the extration of the exhaust gases.
See ScoobyWorld's information at the following link. We'll be updating our own website with photo's and sound clips in the weeks to come.

We have a small initial order already placed. Our initial order was for WRX/STi axlback units only but we have plans to bring over ScoobyWorlds GC8/Legacy/RS versions as well as complete turbo back systems on subsequent orders. We'll also be looking to bring over their Ninja exhaust and other goodies as we gauge demand for the line. We'll have full pricing info once our full landed costs(import tax, freight) are known. In the meantime, if you've had a ScoobyWorld exhaust on you mind please email daddy@daddysscp.com to get on a pre-order list. We should see our first shipment the later half of June.
Happy Driving

InfamousDX 05-27-2004, 02:06 AM What's the pricing going to be on this piece?
Daddy's SCP 05-27-2004, 04:11 PM I won't be setting exact prices until I see my landed cost(import tax and International freight), but it will be similiar to the ScoobySport based H&S product we sell, in the range of $599. Yah, I know, big bucks.
R.
Daddy's SCP 06-03-2004, 02:00 PM Our initial shipment will included the Afterburner Vortex with the angled exit which offers straighter piping and a slight bump in performance and will also have the standard exit exhaust for those who prefer the straight exit look. Angled exit will run $649 + freight, $675 for the straight exit.

Siper2 06-07-2004, 11:18 AM Wow, looks really nice!! Reading the page now and downloading some clips. :)
How do you think it compares to the H&S/Scoobysport unit? After all, that's been the definitive Subaru exhaust for many years, and if you sell both, it could be a good comparison. :) Maybe this is a new-age kind of replacement for the older Scoobysport exhaust?
(If they're both made by H&S, that could be the case.... Why would they compete with themselves? :p )
Will the 2.5RS models be 2.25" or will they remain 2.5" units?
EDIT: The reviewers say it's a great fit, but--and maybe it's just slid over a bit--I'm looking at the beginning of this video...
http://www.scoobyworld.co.uk/movies/afterburner_acceleration_1.MPG
...and the exhaust looks as if the mounting bar isn't long enough.
See that hangar on the right? It's kind of bent over. I have Kartboy exhaust hangars too, and those puppies don't bend.

2.2gotboost 06-15-2004, 10:21 AM I have this exhaust (Straight Exit) straight from ScoobyWorld. The sound is phenominal.
The Kartboy exhaust hangers will give.
There are no washers welded on the rear hanger to center it in the cut out of the bumper, so I used S/S washers and hose clamps (all of which is hidden untill you lay down and look under the car). It is centered now. The diameter of the hanger is smaller than on most mufflers, so there was some play in it. The hose clamps and washers fixed this as well.
The right hanger will roll almost level because the hanger design does not differ from the angled to straight exit models.
My guess is that the angled exit hanger would fit just fine, but just not centered. Also ther is an increased chance of smoking up the bumper with the angled exit model. The straight exit model clears the bumper by at least 1 1/2 ".

Siper2 06-15-2004, 10:49 AM Well.... I personally think you shouldn't have to tinker with a muffler to make it fit, when it's car-specific and that expensive.
Granted it's not some huge effort, but still......

When our first shipment arrives we'll make sure we include anythinig that is needed to make the fit proper. I had the same experience with Virbrant catbacks and have similiar solutions.
This isn't a replacement for ScoobySport. It's more of a complimentary line. The exhaust has some unquie features, but it also has a different style from the ScoobySport single tip and dual tip we carry(and will continue to carry). We liked the fact the these exhausts are made by H&S which ensure the unquie sound character that has made H&S such a popular builder, in addition to the some of the best HP gains of any 2.5" axleback out there. We'll keep you guys posted as soon as the pallet arrives.

We've got a sample Ninja coming on the pallet for evaluation as well. After we "test" it, it will be up for grabs.

2.2gotboost 06-24-2004, 01:46 PM The Ninja exhaust is not made by H&S. It is produced by a Japanese Company.

British ninjas...... Interesting....

Daddy's SCP 06-24-2004, 05:35 PM Our first sample of ScoobyWorld product has arrived. As well as an additional H&S house branded axleback we'll be sampling.
For those of you not familiar, the ScoobyWorld Afterburner Vortex is one of the most unique axleback creations to grace the rear end of your scooby. Build by the legendary UK builder Hayward & Scott to ScoobyWorld's specifications, this just might be the most performance oriented axleback your bucks can buy. The "Vortex" part of the name describes the unique "spiral" wound exhaust baffle that helps extract exhaust gasses from the system. The second feature, although not totally unquie to the Afterburner Vortex, is the offset tip design to allow the absolute straightest exhaust exit path, and finally, you get the titanium style 4.5" burnt tip. This exhaust is a little bit outside the "style" characteristics of the exhausts we sell at Daddy's but we specifically went after the import of this product due to the phenomenal reviews it has received in the UK, and the fact that it is built by one of the most respected and long lasting names in Subaru performance exhauts, Hayward & Scott. In addition to the offset tip style of Afterburner Vortex, we also have a couple of standard style tip exist versions for you traditionalists. While we were at it we had ScoobyWorld send us one of there JDM build Ninja exhausts which is also a very highly regarded exhaust in the UK. ScoobyWorld has this exhaust build in Japan by the same builder that puts together some of the most expensive JDM imported brands available(we're not at liberty to name names)And to top off the new product offerings we also brought in a Hayward & Scott house brand axleback, that is very much like the offset tip Afterburner Vortex, less the burt tip and the "vortex" baffle. These products are available for immediate delivery. Our initial shipment was a small one for evaluation purposes so gett'um while we gott'em.
THIS SHIPMENT ONLY FREE FREIGHT(US, excluding Alaska and Hawaii)
ScoobyWorld Afterburner Vortex offset/angled tip: $649
ScoobyWorld Afterburner Vortex straight exit tip: $685
ScoobyWorld Ninja(genuine JDM build product): $539
The ScoobyWorld Afterburner Vortex offset/angled tip. Perhaps the best performing axleback you can buy.

This is looking in at the exhaust exit, you can see the spiral vortex that aids in exhaust extraction. This is sick stuff !!

The H&S unit is identical to the Afterburner Vortex except the tip isn't burnt. That is the only visual difference. There are different on the inside of course, but on the outside the burnt tip is it.

Daddy's SCP 06-29-2004, 11:38 PM Thought I'd add a longer/better sound clip. There is a slighy echo due to where it was taken but this should give you folks a better idea how frickin mean this puppy sounds. I love the purrrrrrrr it makes when you let off the gas.

Daddy's SCP 07-06-2004, 10:14 PM Hey folks,
I've got one ScoobyWolrd Afterbuner Vortex, angled tip, that was used for a week so we could do the audio/video clip. The unit is basically brand new, just slightly dirty. Save $50, $599, plus we'll still throw in free freight.
I also have the Ninja unit for "demo" sale as well. This was on the car for a few days, again to get an audio/video clip(not posted yet) and a few photos. Basically a brand new exhaust with a few days of usage. It still smells new. $499 to your door. Clip will be posted shortly, but I will say this exhaust is quieter than it looks and a great match for folks running a single hi-flow cat as it is almost a perfect volume level for those that want to hear it and not shout it, if you know what I mean.
