Fins are masked off and not painted. Our painters utilize DuPont paint and go through a five step process in painting our hood scoops. Scuff the hood scoop, apply base, then paint, then clear coat. Finally it all goes in the oven! This is the same process a premier, collision level body shop goes through with a major project.

Seriously though, if we have a scoop with some nibs, we wet sand and polish it. If its something wet sanding and polishing can't fix, we just send it back for a repaint.

RoadRageDev - Nope, the 04 scoops will not fit the pre-04 cars.

Will you have any 04 scoops in JBP?

RoadRageDev - Yeh, Bankie's right. The 04 STi HS do not fit the 02/03 WRX. We have plenty of the 02/03 STi hood scoops though.

Bankie - At this time, we'll only have the PSM and WRB. We'll hit the Java Black in the next batch which unfortunately will be next month.

Thanks Bankie and J-Spec. The 02/03 STi hood scoops are the same height as the 04's right?

RoadRageDev - I'm pretty sure that the 04 scoops are taller than the 02/03 scoops. The 04 WRX hoodscoop looks a bit taller than the 02/03 STI scoops from the pictures I've seen but it may just be an illusion of the squarer shape on the 04 scoop.

J-Spec - Thanks for the heads up. I'll check again in a month or so.

RoadRageDev - The 04's are definitely taller and larger (in depth) than the 02/03 STi Hood scoop.

We have just run another 20x 04 STi hood scoops through the painters. Only planning on PSM and WRB but if there is significant demand, we'll also hit the Java blacks.

ETA on the 04 hood scoops is 10/27 (around).

Update: We are just not going to be able to get the 02/03 hood scoops soon. Don't want to go into all the details...

The 04 STi hood scoops are a different story. We will have a batch of Java Black, WR Blue and PSM. ETA is sometime next week. Won't be in time for X-Mas but we will be able to ship after X-Mas.

Notfastenough - We do not have any unpainted 04 Hood Scoops left. They're all at the painters. What color are you looking for?

Notfastenough - Just noticed on your profile that your car is a 2000 Legacy. Is this hood scoop for that model car?

I've looked at Java black on the 04 WRX/STi and didn't notice any red flecks. I've never tried to fit a 04+ STi Hood Scoop on a 2000 Legacy. Does it fit without any modifications.
