I heard that since the NEW WRX(impreza) platform was based on the older RS(impreza) platform, that a lot of the measurements and specs are the same. So I was wondering which if any, or all, of the WRX parts are interchangeable between the RS and WRX. and vice versa. thanks.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but in all the publications I read prior to the release of the new WRX, they stated that the WRX is loosely based on the previous generation Legacy....

So as far as parts retrofit, your guess is as good as anyone's.

I heard some of the suspension is compatible. Not the sway bar though. That's about it. I don't really recall ever reading anywhere stating that it was based on the older Impreza though.

Its an entirely new platform.

But, a few parts are carried over...

I'm going to find out about the rear sway bars tonight. I'm going to try a stock 13mm sway bar from a '01 RS on my '02 RS. I'll let you know how it went tomorrow.

My understanding is that due to the wider track of the 02 cars the sway bars will not work. The struts are the same however and will interchange.

You can fit the stock WRX 6-Disc CD changer system into the RS...Your dual single din units are replaced with the single dual din unit of the WRX. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif

Well guess what! Last night, we took the rear sway bar off of my 2002 RS and compared it to the rear sway bar from a 2001 RS... They are EXACTLY the same part. So they should be interchangeable with the WRX rear bar as well. We did not check the front bar, however, so I cannot guarantee backwards compatibility there. But at least I know I can get an 18mm rear bar for a 2001 and it will fit on my car! http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif

I find that odd, seeing as I know one thing they changed was the rear suspension. It's more independent than it was before.
