View Full Version : Another fp18g dyno'd
13secwrx 06-03-2004, 12:54 PM Well I just got back from xx tuning today and I am very ahappy w/the numbers and setup. Its basically a txs stage 4 w/an fp18g, fmic, and headers.
335 whp & 330 tq on a mix of 93 and 100 octane. 25 psi
310 whp & 300 tq on 93 octane. 21 psi
The car feels great. It runs strong all the way to redline. I highly recommend xxtuning to anyone in the area. They did a great job. Thanks .
Shabib67 06-03-2004, 01:03 PM when does boost start to build and when do you get full boost by
dug-e-fresh 06-03-2004, 02:54 PM you plan to do a c16 tune? nice torque bump with the 100!
def
jefersun 06-03-2004, 02:59 PM 25 psi and only 335 whp? Not be a jerk but isnt' that kinda low for that much boost?
Nevertheless, that car must feel amazing...
mikaust 06-03-2004, 03:41 PM 335 whp is a good # for a 93 and 100 cocktail.
dug-e-fresh 06-03-2004, 03:57 PM I think you need to change your user name... ;)

ctwrxwagon 06-03-2004, 04:30 PM Howdy,
Not to be a pita.. but could you list your whole/exact setup and where you got it tuned?

Gered
powbmps 06-03-2004, 04:54 PM It's nice to see some more FP18g numbers from XXTuning. I've got a similar setup minus the headers and FMIC (using TXS TMIC). I was only able to get 260 whp/ 250 tq at 20 psi on the same dyno. Is it possible that the headers and FMIC could account for a 50 whp difference? My car might just suck! Do you know what the approximate air temp. was when you were there? It was in the low 80's with 40% humidity when I was on the dyno.
Thanks,
Chris
13secwrx 06-03-2004, 07:37 PM It was yesterday so it was kinda humid. My car has always been kinda freaky for numbers. On my vf22 I made 282whp w/300tq so. My 335 tq I think is awesome figuring I was on like 96 octane. A quarter tank of 93 and a quarter of 100. I think w/ a full 100 I could have made more. They wanted to keep it a little safe due to my stock gears and block. It had alot more in it.
Here are my mods:
utec
stealth back exhaust w/race pipe mated to blitz axel back
xx tuning headers/up pipe combo
Hyperflow fmic
turbos smart plumb back bov
fp 18g
perrin big maf intake
pe 650cc injectors
sti engine/tranny mounts
Greddy oil catch can
I have looks and suspension mods but htats all for engine mods.
the injectors mad eall the diff. in the world. Powbmps if you get the fmic/headers/and injectors im sure you would be right there.
powbmps 06-03-2004, 09:42 PM I suppose the upgraded TMIC may not have been the best investment. It's funny, back when I ordered my top mount from TXS they accidently sent me a front mount. I guess I should have kept it! The header/uppipe combo looks nice. That would probably solve my leaky uppipe problem as well. How do you like those headers?
Thanks,
Chris
13secwrx 06-03-2004, 10:41 PM I truly believe that they are the key to my tq. I dont think I would make as much tq w/out them. I highly recommend you drive downa nd have danny and them put em in. Two thumbs up.
stimied 06-04-2004, 12:00 AM 13- do you come to the Loews meets on Wednesdays? I'd like to see that beast in person. Nice numbers.

13secwrx 06-04-2004, 02:06 AM Newver heard of it...pm the details.
InfamousDX 06-04-2004, 04:22 AM Sounds like a great setup. When is full boost hitting? And when do you hit 1 bar (14.7 psi)??
13secwrx 06-04-2004, 03:20 PM Full boost by 3800rpm's...
illspace 06-04-2004, 03:50 PM what dyno?
13secwrx 06-04-2004, 04:35 PM A dynapack dyno. I hear they usually dont read high or low kinda neutral. If that makes any sense.
illspace 06-04-2004, 05:27 PM so what kind of trap are you expecting on pump? I assume better than your vf22 which was what?
13secwrx 06-04-2004, 09:21 PM On pump I was hoping for 112-115 and on race 115-118...is this a realistic goal ?
sonicowrx03 06-06-2004, 05:35 AM powbmps,
Don't be a TXS TMIC " hater" man!! there is nothing wrong with the TMIC to make power, I made 280whp on the Dyno Dynamic(the one that reads the lowest) and I was only at 18PSI and 91oct fuel pump.
When Clark tuned my car the 3 fans were facing the front of the car but I hade no fans in top of my intercooler.
My point is:
a) raise my boost to 25psi
b) put some 100 oct gas on my car
c) aim a big fan into my TMIC while tunning my car
I would it make easily 320whp plus. Don't worry about your intercooler, there is nothing wrong with the TMICs ,it is just the rumors, as I said, I could it easily get similar power to 13secwrx's car..
Good luck with your tunning
My mods:
fp18g
UTEC
BORLA HEADERS
cai
greddy 3" cat back
hks down pipe
pe 650 injectors
TXS TMIC
TXS up-pipe
Samco TMIC Hoses
STI Scoop
GT Spec TMIC Air Splitter
Walbro Fuel pump
Lineage Grounding Kit
and another $3K in Stereo and cosmethics(gauges, carbon fiber parts, etc)

Themain difference I have observed between tmic and fmic-eqipped cars seems to be torque and not so much whp to be honest... Any idea what your wtq figures were on your 280whp run......
sonicowrx03 06-07-2004, 04:53 AM I made 255wtq. I wish someone had a TMIC and went from a TMIC to a FMIC so he/she could display the whp and wtq so we can analize the data (increase /decrease in power), or viceversa..
dug-e-fresh 06-07-2004, 09:05 AM Mikaust made 365 whp/330 wtq with a TXS topmount and a FP18G. He is still on the STi 550s, stock exhaust manifold and bonestock EJ205 motor (w/50k+ miles).
He has since went frontmoumt (TXS), and it is thought that he picked up at least 20 whp. Even more when moving.
So far the best we have been able to squeeze out of the car is 12.1 @ 118. That on a 1.88 sixty foot and only 89 mph in the 8th mile.
Dyno fans can never simulate the cooling effect of 100mph "winds" going down the quarter mile.
When you get going a frontmount is more beneficial than a direct dyno-to-dyno comparison of it and a topmount will show.
Recently we found that he was having some boost control issues, ie- hitting only 16 psi in 1st... but now with an ebc, he's hitting 20+ psi in first gear.... we need to get it back to the track ;)

samh22a 06-07-2004, 12:52 PM mikaust didn't sell his car ??
awesome ! Can't wait to see a 11.XX

03WREX 06-10-2004, 11:59 AM The more I read about the 18g the more I want it. Sounds like a really great setup. It seems like the daily driving aspect is still manageable with not tolerable lag. I guess I better start saving up.
