I stocked up today so yeah.... tora 06-06-2004, 04:25 AM Booze is already taxed like 124%.....more....nuts. bezerk 06-06-2004, 04:36 AM privatize it...then we wait for the Real Canadian SuperStore Liquor stores like in Alberta! tora 06-06-2004, 01:45 PM I thought they did privatize it, beer and wine stores can now sell hard alcohol. But they get so much tax from it, why would the government want to completely privatize it. Actually, they would get more money since they wouldn't have to pay the wages of the people selling it. hypa 06-07-2004, 02:02 PM Originally posted by Kevin ... but they would still get the taxes from it even if they weren't the ones selling it. Why pay someone unionized $16+/hour to dispense alcohol, when beer stores pay their employees less than $10/hr? If Campbell is able to do anything in this province, I hope it's private liquor stores, and ferries. :( fukamoto 06-07-2004, 02:04 PM Originally posted by hypa Exactly. Cold Beer and Wine stores (that also now sell liquor) operate under the hotel/restaurant licence of the establishment they they are attached to - they're always in the same physical building. But I think Ye Ol' Booze Barn ain't far away... If only they'd lax the gun laws, we'd be able to buy ammo when we buy bourbon and have nice safe communities like our American neighbours. But I digress. Jeff hypa 06-08-2004, 07:05 PM <hypa claps after readin Frawl's reply> :disco: Relaxed gun laws would allow me to dust off the old .220, and .410 for some good old fashioned hunting. As it stands, my old guns are in the care of my dad, who went through the hassle of gov't paperwork and beaurocracy. I used to love bringing the ATV's up to Spences Bridge with a 24 of Bud, and spending the days riding the forest service roads until dark, or it got too cold. Then back to the cabin for beer and a nice campfire while telling stories of ex girlfriends, and the time 3 native guys jumped us in Penticton. :alien: |
