I recently posted a problem with my car about 1st gear popping out when the clutch isn't depressed, no gas, and coasting downhill.

My car is still under warranty. So, the dealership is suppose to provide a loaner vehicle free of charge while they are working/checking out my car, correct?

Thanks.

I'd say 99% of the time, yes, if they keep your car for a long day/overnight. One dealer hear doesn't seem to, but they have their own fleet of rentals... so obviously I don't go there.

I'm not sure if they are going to provide me with a loaner or not. I haven't called to make an appointment yet. I'm having my windows tinted on Saturday, so I'm going to wait to take it in next week.

It's weird b/c this is the only time I've noticed it popping out of gear. I can launch the car or just romp on it in first and it won't pop out.......just in the scenario I posted above. Thanks for the info.

All I can say is that they better give me a free rental car if they have to keep it. I went easy on them with the review I gave them. I could have screwed them bad. They promised the car to me and it ended up being a week later. Also, they forgot the red stitching in the leather. And they acted like it wasn't a big deal. "Oh, well, it would have just brought down your resale value anyway".....screw resale, I'm not going to be selling this car....at least not for a long long time. Also they delivered the car with scratches on the console and the glove box. They did fix it, but not until I brought it to their attention. I use the word attention loosely b/c they DID know it was there. They just thought I wouldn't notice it! If they don't I'm going to raise hell.

If your vehicle is going to be out of commission due to a warranty repair, then SOA will provide a rental car. If there's any doubt in the dealer's mind, have them call SOA and verify. I think the paperwork is a pain for the dealer so some will loan you a "shop" car or even worse, try and convince you that there is no loaner. If the dealer still gives you trouble, call SOA directly and complain (1-800-SUBARU3).

BTW, I had the 1st gear popping out problem on my Forester. I had the repair done under warranty and the dealer hooked me up with an OB Sedan for the 4 days my vehicle was out of commission.

Ken. Thanks for the information. OB sedan....sweet....hehe.

This dealership is a Subaru/Hyundai/Volvo/Chevrolet

So I'll probably get a crappy Hyundai. Oh well, at least my car will get fixed.
Thanks.
