My car's paint is horrible due to all the scratches. Is there any place in NNJ that's reputable and won't break the bank?

yes, not to steal the thread, but I also am looking for a good place that's not too expensive... :p

dont know of any in NNJ but ultimate autobody is about 45minutes up into NY. they are worth the trip!

You wouldn't happen to know what they charge would you?

I know the guy that did my suby after it's two bang ups did an excelent job...he's in Fairview NJ..I've actually recommended him to other suby folks. One other person on the boards had work done by him. If you want his info PM me , all you have to do is let him know you're a friend of mine and he'll give ya "da hookup". As far as price, I have no idea, b/c I never went for repainting the whole car, but he is super-fair in pricing.

My neighbor does paint but im in centra new jersey. 129 off the parkway. He redid my hood, fenders, and front bumper. Superb stuff.

Full body paint job (in a custom color), with a decent amount of bodywork included, came to $2200.

Bit pricey, but lifetime guarantee from the owner, Mario -- HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

i did some quotes from alot of places and i got the best quote from ultimate autobody . i think its like upstate new york . maybe we should a do a paint group buy ( again ) . lets really try to make it happen . summer is coming and we all would like our cars to be looking good . :banana:

CALDWELL COLLISION does good work. They repainted my mother's 88 Benz when it got scratched at the mechanic's shop. They did an awesome job. They always seem busy when I go past their shop, I figure that is a good sign, plus I usually see higher end cars there, IE Mecedes, BMW, Audi, Cadillacs, etc.

Also, Mountain View Auto in Wayne (right off rt23 north, near Wayne dodge) is good. they do a lot of work work to Corvettes. They even put a body kit on my father's Corvette, they also did an awesome job.

Ultimate Auto body is in Mt. Vernon New York- about 20 minutes on the Westchester side of the Tappan zee Bridge. Alot of tri-state have used him for his quality as well as price. His has three tri-state subbies there right now. Give Bill a call.

While we are on the topic of busniesses in NNJ, I need to warn you about "Classic Towing" in Paterson. They tow cars from William Paterson University, after they tow the cars, they drop off the cars at a lot in a bad area in Paterson. I've heard from ex employees that while the car is in the lot with all of the other towed cars, the towing company take fluid out of the car, steering fluid, brake fluid, etc. I've heard this from many classmates, and after they towed my girlfriend's car, the brakes never worked right, and the car was junked about a month later.
Also, I'v seen their procedure for putting the car on the flatbed. I've seen them with my own eyes, hook a toyota pickup up the flatbed's winch and pull the truck onto the bed, however, they never took the tranny out of park, and they dragged the car onto the flatbed. (I'm sure that's not too good for the tranny). I have never had my car towed by them, so I don't have personal experience other than my girlfriend's car.

yes dan, you told me you're dad was going to call me, but it didn't matter, I don't think I had the funds at the time anyways, I'm thinking about candy apple red could you get that priced for me, best deal by a reputable guy was 3500$...

are u looking to get the entire car redone in candle apple red, like door jams, and engine bay? Let me know and ill get back to u, and i am not sure what happened with us not getting back to u on that whole deal but sry for the inconvience. It won't happen again

I just spoke with Mario @ Classic to make sure I wasn't getting ahead of myself.

"Lifetime guarantee on our (Classic) workmanship" is what came out of his mouth. I've known Mario for 15+ years, trust him completely, and I've never taken any vehicle to anybody else.

If you pay him a visit you'll see that apart from straight-up collision work, they specialize in full restorations and custom work on all types of rides....

PS -- Classic Auto Body & Classic Towing are two completely different businesses. Classic Towing serves mainly as the impound yard for Paterson.
