Scooby Freak 06-11-2004, 08:38 AM This is the one that I want also: Hoosier A3S04 (Competition) 205/45-16 I currently have A3S03 225/50-16, but I want the lower sidewall, new compound, and I don't think the extra width is really helping on my stock (camber limited) car. It seems whatever tire I put on there, I end cornering on the outside edge and not using the entire width of the tire. Anybody have any insight on this? ratt_finkel 06-11-2004, 11:33 AM Originally posted by Scooby Freak This is the one that I want also: Hoosier A3S04 (Competition) 205/45-16 I currently have A3S03 225/50-16, but I want the lower sidewall, new compound, and I don't think the extra width is really helping on my stock (camber limited) car. Yeah, take your car to the alignment shop, and have them dial in as much negative camber as possible. You shoule be able to gain around -1 degree or so. However, the Hoosiers love that -camber. I'd still rather be using the side of a 225, over a 205. I'd do the camber yourself, following the instructions that are on this site and most any scoob site. THEN go to the alignment shop and tell them to correct the toe only. 205-45-16 or 215-40-16. 205's will be closest to your original gearing. 215's will lower your gearing, requiring 3rd gear sooner in most cases......oh but the torque exiting corners! Jay Storm Scooby Freak 06-11-2004, 12:01 PM I got the alignment already, max neg. camber, zero toe. It's not nearly enough, but that's all I'll get in D-stock. I was just wondering about the low profile. With most of the courses, that I see I don't expect to use third gear, even w/ the lower gearing. And if I'm only using half of the tread while cornering, then the extra width will only help during accelerating or braking. But accelerating is certainly not pushing the tires to their limit. So I might hurt braking performance for better gearing. Disclaimer: This is all just my theory. Not to be taken as truth, but feel free to debunk it (constructively). |
