I want some Altezza style tail lights for my WRX. Anyone know if these are currently under production? I personally don't care for the look of the OEM tail lights.

DON'T do this, most are very cheap and fall apart within a few weeks.

Biggest reason not to do it is you will be THE cop magnet on the road. They will pick YOU over a vette, when they are goign to pull over a speeder.

Why don't you guys like these? I think they look way cool. Much better then then clear lense look. Buy an IS300? What? Why spend 32k on a slower car?

I think Honda is having some low lease rates and good buying deals right now. That would better suit your needs. That or an Integruh.

Seriously, They might look ok, and they definitely look better than the all-clear stuff, but they are made out of super cheap, thin plastic that will leak. I think the short life of them should encourage you to not spend the money on them.

Everyone is entitled to there own opinion but I LOVE these things. Definately will have to look into the quality issue though. Do you guys just not like them because of the *rice* thing or what? Nobody is saying why they don't like them?? I could care if someone said my car looked *rice* just as long as I am happy with it. I don't discriminate against Asians or anyone for that mater. So nobody is going to do a big wing on there WRX either...ya right!

Big wing is a Subaru thing-it always has been(WRC). Different with Honda. Besides, those taillights just look corny. If someone could do a conservative Altezza in good taste, I might be interested, but I don't see that happenin' On second thought, NO I would never be interested. I just think that stuff makes cars look "hoopty" and cheapened.

Hey, the guy likes the way they look. And I'm sure there'll be Altezza lights for the WRX in a few months time. When they do come out, pay attention to the quality and buy smart but if you like'm, get'em! Long live rice!...if that's what ya like.

Actually, I saw a set on a silver '94 Prelude yesterday, and they made it look very cool. Ricy, but mean. I think they'd look like ass on a WRX, though.

i think i'd be tempted to get them if they weren't showing up on every other car out there right now. here in atlanta every other modified car has them, even some cars that aren't really modified, just have these lights. but we will eventually need some kind of upgrade for those tail lights. eventually..... i think for now engine work and enjoying the car will be enough... http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/cool.gif

J-Spec.. Just for your info.. I don't own an RS..and I never will.. but I do respect people tastes.. if someone wants Altezza lights on his/her car..fine.. I don't like them..but hey..it's not mine..it's not my money..

Uh, Basil... Not that I'm condoning what J-Spec said (although some of it was true), but what you just wrote was major snob. "If it weren't for us buying the RS...". If that isn't snooty I don't know what is. I know J-spec needed some putting in his place but that was the snob way to do it.

Let me put forth a little theory of mine that is slowly coming true.. I've frequented a few car BBSes in the past 6 months (Acura, Lexus). For subbies I started on the alt.autos.subaru newsgroup. I immediately noticed that there were less jackasses on that group and more real drivers there as opposed to only boy-racer kill/drag race stories. When I joined here, things were mostly the same.

Anyway I was thinking that things were this way because Subaru didn't have a real extreme sports car. The RS is a great sports car and a great driving experience, but it lacked the power to attract the drag racers. Now that the WRX is here, wa-la. Here come the immature boy racers! Lots of WRX vs ... stories. Now some of this is ok because the WRX has this sort of potential to kick ass, but its obviously going to far.

You'll notice that I am one of the new WRX crowd, but I didn't come here to talk about who I drag raced.. so don't worry about me!

J-spec, do you think they would bring an Evo to the states of the WRX were to fall on its face. Probably not. I don't think they would've brought the WRX over unless they new there would be a market for it. 2.5RS owners asking subaru when we were gonna get a taste of the power probably didn't have everything to do with it but without it, you don't know what would have happened.

And the correct phrasing would be to say the Honda is like the Subaru not the other way around. Honda obviously saw a the nitch subaru had and tried to capitolize on it.

Case in point -- the fact that when I joined there was 2500 users now there are 4500 users... This site has been around for like 2 years I think.... it took you 2 years to accumulate 2500 users but only a 3 months to get that same number.... Why is this? J-Spec, you are out of line. You have been with us since Dec 2000 and you think you know all about "RS Owners"? Thats all bunch of non-sense. Thank god Impreza crown in US are so anti-poser. I can only think of 3 "mental" Impreza's and I hope it will stay this way. The reason there are no Altezza light for our cars is becuase there is no demand for them and there is no demand for them since no one really wants them. As simple as that. i Club is different from all the other car clubs. We are not better or worse. We are different and we have a definate sense of identity and heritage. Most of the other japanese car clubs here in the US never have and never will have that, becuase they care about things like "Altezza" lights and doing all kinds of crazy stuff. The Impreza croud isn't interested in that. The worst case of "Impreza abuse" I can think of is putting WRX stickers on the RS. That is it! But everyone goes through this "I want to make my car look like all the other cars around me" stage. It will go away, and after actually getting your WRX and driving it around for a while, you'll understand how really different it is and how different you will look at those lights after that. I, myself, had WRX stickers on my RS, but then one day I woke up and took them off. For now, I will pull a "JW Bush" and bomb this place.

Everybody has their own likes and dislikes. If you want to get the Altezza lights, go ahead. The only thing that matters is that you are happy with it. I personally don't like them b/c I think they scream out for attention. ANd so do other things like HUGE decals, exhaust tips, etc...But this is only my humble opnion.

I hope you are happy when you get your WRX. I'm trying like hell to get my wife to get one. I just hope you'll not look down on other RS owners b/c you have a better car. A wave or a nod of the head from fellow Subie drivers is always appreciated.

I think this is great. I'm sitting here reading this and a big smile comes up on my face. It is so reassuring to know how different we are from all the "cheesy" rice it up crowd.

Here is a better idea. Go buy some fat laces. It's a fad, doesn't do anything for your car, and is a lot cheaper.

We really are turning into clubsi. Not because someone likes Alteeza lights, but because of the way people are being treating someone who does.

You cna do what you want to the car, but when you get rear-ended because of the crappy visibility of the Altezza rear lights, it won't be the other guy's fault - there are reasons that they are marked "For off-road use only" on clear light packages...

I'm not being snobby.... RS owners are (stereotypically) snobby.... Like I said they act like their RS owns all or something... And they consistantly bash Si's.... (search the forums....!) your car is no better than an Si... as for if your RS is what got them to bring over the WRX is utter BS.... If that were the case we wouldn't be seeing all these other companies bringing out their nice cars... (SE-R, RX-8, Z Car, IS300, RS-X) It's just the fact that the market is changing... Ever since the redesign of such cars as the Celic, Eclipse, MR2... companies have notice people moving away from their gas hungry, top heavy SUV's and what something affordable, fast and spacious.... That's why the trend went from Mini-vans to SUV's they liked the utility but wanted sporty but found the cost was outrageous... So now they are going to cars UNDER 30k that are sporty and have more space that a little coupe... Just because the WRX came out first doesn't mean it was because of the RS...... did it have something to do with it? Obviously... because there is no 2 door Rex (which I find strange because almost every one of you guys have 2 door RS's guess you guys aren't the MAIN demographic)

But the market is shifting and so are the cars... that's why we're hearing rumors of EVo 7's and R35's coming here that have some validity no so more than ever... The Japanese own the 20-30k market... Subaru was not in this market they needed to be a competitor... Enter the WRX....
