Yep! Heavy! Auto! Poor Gearing! Definitely a WRX.

Take a auto WRX and against a FWD 1992 SVX and the auto WRX may have it's arse handed to it. Same hp/torque as later years SVXs but the 1992's seem to be faster (15.2-15.3 according to a mag or two). WRX autos out the box usually don't pull low 15's....usually.

An SVX with lower gearing and a manual tranny (some have been custom made) can hold it's own against a stock manual trannied WRX despite it's weight disadvantage. Even though a stock manual trannied WRX if everything was perfect could probably pull low 14's, that's not the norm or the usual. I think this would be a toss up to the drivers of each car. That's my take!

I traded my 97 SVX in on a 2002 WRX and I can tell you the WRX will beat the SVX. I raced a Mustang Cobra with my SVX and just beat him but thats cause he wheel hopped bad on the start. If you want a comfortable AWD car thats real different go for a SVX it's a cruiser.:D

Rolling start, 80-160mph SVX all the way:D

SVX is definitely a cruiser, stoplight to stoplight it has nothing to brag about. The highway is where it is at home.

I lost the link I used to have to the only place I knew of that sold Hi Performance parts to the SVX. It had lots of interesting info on it. Reason I got rid of mine was the auto trans wet the bed on me at 69000 miles. It was a 4EAT like the WRX gets and it cost a ton to get fixed by the dealer. When I got it back it shifted a bit funny but, the dealership said it had a rebuild warrantee so I could jsut bring it back. I traded it in about 20000 miles on a WRX.

Anyway back to my point kinda? On the SVX page it had all the theoretical performance the SVX would have if you could make the horspower. One of the the things being the top speed was in the 195 or 200 range because of the 2:63 or something to that effect diff gearing plus the OD from the 4EAT.

If it had the power it could have been a real luxo supercar

Dont forget the insanely low .cd on the SVX... It would make for a great high-speed car if someone decided to go all out.

a FWD 1992 SVX
they were all awd

Nope. Some were fwd, some were awd. All had funky windows and were way cool, though. My favorite quote went something like: It's a mix of cars, the performance of a porshe, the luxury of a jag.

My mom got a new in 93. White with black top. The day she got it she took it down and had 17 inch chrome Speedlines put on it with Yok rubber. Shes cool like that.. Just said.. I hate these wheels and I will be back. She still has it.. It has.. get this.. 40,000 miles on it.. Thats it.. Its just getting broken in.. She got another car a while back and still keeps the SVX for some reason. I want it..

I remember when she got it.. She let me drive it. I remember standing outside with it running and the hood up.. My dad and I placed our hands on the intake manifold and both said.. Thats the smoothest running engine I have ever seen.

That car went downhill when it had no manual transmission option...

Well I got mine off my old man and it was a comfortable awd car. Surfooted in rain and snow and all but at 80000 I lost 4th and then 3rd after I stopped to fill it at a gas station. Was gonna limp it to the Sube dealer the next day but all of a sudden it only had 1st left.

I was lucky that I had insured the drivetrain cause the rebuild on that damn 4EAT was $4500:mad:

I tradded it in a WRX a few months after that and got a Rex in 01 :D
