Nice arent they? :D
Capt Crunch 06-16-2004, 05:53 PM I have them. They are worth the money IMHO. I prefer to spend the extra dime to get the right thing, not halfassed like the RHD JDM lamps. Which is weird, because I don't miny any of the replica parts on my car.
I'm an enigma.
Buy them!
TTocs 06-16-2004, 05:56 PM Think you can put up a pic with them on the car so i could see them in action? Also they fit fine on all WRX's? Thanks
I wouldn't pay that much money for them unless they were the black chrome version.

They fit all bugeye style and have the correct beam pattern compared to JDMs. JDMs cut off like this \__\__ whereas the EDMs cut off like this __/__/. IMO they are 100% worth the money particularly if you live somewhere where you need the light.

They are Subaru OEM pieces.

TheShadowWRX 06-16-2004, 09:18 PM These are by far the best investment I have made for my car. They look amazing in person and the amount of light they put out is amazing! Definately worth the money.

spike 06-17-2004, 12:33 AM $1000 for those lights now? Ouch! I have had a pair on my wagon for about two years, and think they look way better than the stock lights, but I wouldn't pay that much for them.

MK19_ 06-17-2004, 06:45 AM I love mine. Got them from SubyDude as well... the EDM's cost a bt more as they are harder to get than the JDM. WELL worth the $- you get STi quality and the correct light pattern

How much did you buy them for? And from what vendor?
Any info would be great
Thanx

EDMs never came like that...the lights you are describing are JDM HIDs.
blueribbon 06-17-2004, 06:24 PM black crome sti lights are only JDM not EDM

glepko 06-17-2004, 09:59 PM I've had them in the basement for over a year now...the one I took out of the box one time was beautiful. Seeing how they sell for more now than I paid then, they must have been worth it.
TheShadowWRX 06-18-2004, 12:58 AM Umm Why haven't you put them on yet?
Mike
glepko 06-18-2004, 03:32 PM Waiting for the right connectors so I don't have to hack the wiring with vampire taps or solder directly. No sense in upgrading lighting and going half-arsed about it....ever had your lights go out on the highway at night?:o
spike 06-19-2004, 03:46 AM I got them from a personal group buy. Some kind soul contacted a Swiss dealership and arranged the whole thing. I paid $620 for them shipped. If you get them, I would suggest getting the clear lense protection for them as well. When I had the prodive lights, I put a crack in one of the lights really fast, and I felt terrible.

CrimsonGhost 06-19-2004, 04:12 PM I am getting ready to solder/install my EDM's today. I don't really see the problem with soldering. a bit of electical tape with a clean solder seems ideal.
glepko 06-19-2004, 06:34 PM Soldering is an ideal solution, maybe better with shrink tubing instead of electrical tape but I'd rather just wait for the appropriate connectors so it's not permanent.
Does this unit have day time running light ?
Mulder 06-23-2004, 11:10 PM DRLs are just the low beams run at lower voltage/intensity, so they are a function of the car and not the headlights. The low beams of whatever headlights you have installed will operate as DRLs unless you disable them by disconnecting the wiring to the control module or dropping resistor.
They are definitely worth the money. You're not only paying for the correct beam patterns, but also for the levelling motor inside where the non HID JDM STI lights do not have. Then when you can get the levelling motor to work ... and those that have the JDM projectors can't move theirs ... the extra you paid for the EDM ones will be more than worth it.

file_id 06-25-2004, 07:20 AM I have the EDM lights and outfitted them with HIDs because with the projector type lens you will get less light (less glare) than the stock halogen housings.

spike 08-16-2004, 02:39 AM I have been considering HID's for my EDM lights. I have been reading all the posts, and found a couple of sites selling nice kits for around $480. I was just wondering what the install is like? I keep reading plug and play, but I wanted to check and see. file_id, did you have to lower your lights after installing the HID's? I have people often turn their high beams on me, trying to tell me my high beams are on when they aren't. I was thinking this might be a problem with HID's. I love driving at night, and having the projector lights already, I am very interested in installing HID's
Thanks,
Chad
nqwan 08-16-2004, 02:55 AM for the record, black chrome housings only came on some of the JDM HID's. So not all JDM HID's are black chrome, but all black chrome ones are JDM HID's.

correct! the black chrome ones are very sexy, i must say.
im imprezd 08-17-2004, 03:03 AM is there a way to make the jdm hid's brighter??..my stock hid's doesnt seem too bright compared to file_id's(aftermarket)..i dont have too much knowledge w/ hid's..is it the ballasts?..bulbs??..how do i make them brighter?
TheShadowWRX 08-17-2004, 10:16 AM File-id -- What temp are the bulbs you installed in your emds? They look to be around 4000K.
Thanks,
Mike
I just got my new lights and was wondering if the install is the same for JDM and EDM and if it is, where can I order the proper connectors from or find detail installation instructions because I really don't to screw up my entire head light system. TIA
