stupid question but why is the dccd control box not included?

Mumbles
07-01-2004, 10:48 AM
Well i'd believe that it's because they don't always get whole cars, and that since DCCD isn't standard affair, it's 50/50 they will get the box with it.

Buying mine on friday. :p

Bump for a great vendor!

IA Performance

bonstongc8 got it correct, we usually only receive the drive trains minus cars. Since the control box is in the car we miss out on it :(

Is the required clutch not included?

IA Performance
07-02-2004, 02:25 PM
correct, I just amended the post to reflect it. 6speed complete clutch assembly is included. Pressure plate, clutch disk, and flywheel.

Only 2 Dccd left and 1 non dccd left.

w/ the standard center diff what is the torque split f/r? 50/50? 60/40?

I've heard f40/r60, but I'm not sure about those numbers.

60r/40f for the dccd ones with it disconnected. Heard 50/50 and 60r/40f on the standard center diff ones. Not positive since mixed answers from reliable sources. Will have definite answer tonight.

also what kind of mileage have these tranny's seen already...

IA Performance
07-08-2004, 11:40 AM
MustGoFast- trannies have 10-30K miles on them. The DCCD are newer ones which have fewer miles. The non dccd are generally in the upper 20K to 30K mile range.

Looks like 50/50 on nonDCCD, confirmed by another reliable source.

what would shipping be on these... to a business address :)

What other parts would I need to complete the swap into my wrx?

IA Performance
07-08-2004, 05:28 PM
Just updated the post with shipping examples :)

MustGoFast- The cheapest option is to swap out the internals of your current diff with a legacy 3.90, $150-300 in recylcling yards. Plus a 95-present automatic impreza driveshaft $150 in recycling yards. These will get you bolted up and ready to roll. Another option is the NEWLY ADDED rear end assembly.

Stephen

MustGoFast

so I still need a drive shaft and different rear dif internals to make the swap? Why do you need an automatic driveshaft?

Sorry for all the questions but I like to fully understand a project before I jump in.

You need an auto wrx shaft because the STI shaft is a different length and wont fit unless you install the rear end also.. The stock 5mt wrx one is also not sufficent because now u have a tranny that is much longer, so the Auto is a perfect fit..

All you need is a ring and pinion for the rear, i found one for around 150 shipped i think. I ran around with the 3.9 rear and auto shaft for a while until i could afford the STi rear..

IA Performance
07-09-2004, 01:40 PM
just as cronic put it :D The recycling yards will be your best bets for cheap prices. Total output of $300- $400 after diff swaps & driveshaft on top of the cost of the tranny.

Clarence

IA Performance
07-28-2004, 05:54 PM
Clarence- Correct, v7 trannies come with limited slip front differtials. I went ahead and updated the post to change it form Suretrack LSD to reflect this. I've seen your ride, very nice. That thing will be a dyno king to say the least.

Wow, a shipping quote from IA to Kingpin! That better be cheap... :)

Clarence, that STi tranny is STRONG. Even Subaru, notoriously conservative, claims it's good for 550lb-ft. I haven't heard of one going bad due to torque, just stupidity, which will kill anything.
