Nice numbers.:D..what kind of boost pressure was that at. That t04 looks laaaaggy.

The car running out of injectors, is that why the power still drops off bad after 6K? Just trying to figure it out.

Yes it is laggy.

The wrx stock cams are no good for a 2.5L motor. If you want to have king stump puller maybe they are ok for you, otherwise anyone considering a 2.5L block should look into Stock STI Cams at the very minimal.

We did run out of injector but we are still at a tame 11.5 afr by redline but as you see, we are hitting peak boost at redline but we are way down on power due to the camshafts.

Those inecjtors should be able to support way more power than that. What's the deal?

The deal is that we really don't know what injectors were on the car. The shop said they were 700cc. Clearly they were not. They acted more like a 600cc injector.

Nice numbers. I wonder what the specs were on the T04E

Does the owner not want to reveal himself. If not can you say what color car it was?

Nice freaking numbers btw. Is he coming back for race gas....or is that undecided?

You guys should cut a 257 apart. I think you’ll see some very interesting things that will make you feel much better about the strength of the block.

I am the first to admit when I am wrong. I was wrong about the 257.

Nathan, I was one of the people when everyone said that the block was a pos saying that we should wait and see what numbers turn up and how everything goes with them. I thought that the little things that Subaru did to that motor that they didnt do to other motors that they have built made it special. But, we will see how long they last before I put my foot in my mouth :). Thanks though!

What size Tial did they use.

I have no idea but a 38mm would be enough to run that setup I assume. Although you could go for broke and get the 44mm :). I just think its cool as hell that you all made all that power on such low boost!!

Marco up in Canada has cut a few of these apart to see what Subaru has improved. He has very good things to say, and the results that we've seen out of this block seem to be in line with his observations. The stock pistons are the only real weak point.

Guys,

I'm assuming that figure is on a hub Dyno not on a roller Dyno with the wheels on?

We've completed our first two EJ257 conversions down here in Australia and run them in, Friday we get to power tune them and turn the boost up.. should see some nice numbers... one running a PE1820 the other gets the FPgreen20g bolted on before the tune. (both cars running UTEC)

**watch this space**

But would you say that the pistons are the WEAK point with a good tune?? I mean to say... they stand up to the horsepower great right? Its the det that you get from a bad tune that gets you bad results, correct?

The pistons are shaped kinda funny, and might not be as det resistant as CP's. I think that is what Nmyeti might be trying to say. Plus the wristpin is HUUUGE and heavy. Otherwise, like Crawofd told me: if you're looking for 400hp or less, stock pistons are totally fine.

One thing that worried me a little about the stock shortblock was the shape of the top of the rods. They taper substantially at the pin end, but I suppose looks can be deceiving!

He loves to pull them apart, but assembly is not his thing. It took him 10 weeks to machine and reassemble my block. Very slow. Then he shipped the motor back w/o the oil pump!

If you got it in 10 weeks you did a lot better then I did on this last motor. It's been almost a year now. The motor finally showed up this week.

That is really sad. I know I will never recommend them to anyone.

That is why I went to him in the first place. I guess that better communication would have gone a long way.

I apologize for hijacking this thread.
