My buddy noticed that my drivers side taillight was out. I replaced it, and since then, every time I press the brakes, my interior (dashboard) lights come on!

I took out the bulb and put it back in again, thinking it wasnt seated properly, but it still happens.

Is it possible that I put the bulb in backwards or something? I tried to turn it around, but it didnt seem to fit the opposite way.

I'm like

There is a short between the brake and parking light circuits.
Compare the old and new bulbs, make sure they are exactly the same type and the pins are oriented the same way when you put the new one in. It should only go in one way but who knows.

ok yeah, I'm an idiot.

It was the wrong bulb. I had bought some new bulbs to replace a taillight a few years ago. I had one extra so I used it for the brake light. But it seems as tho this extra one was for the turn signal or something....different bulb (hey, it fit perfectly!)

I used an 1156 bulb, the brake light calls for an 1157 :p

doh!
