View Full Version : '02 OB with a sensor problem

I have a problem with a sensor (I'm pretty sure).

I started with the typical hesitation of the EJ25 engine, then it escalated to a CEL more than once. Both the front cat and a rear fuel solenoid were replaced.

I've done the grounding mod with good results. However, it still doesn't just go up the rev band like it should and more importantly it's got a pinging under load. It's got no CEL now.

I've researched the problem and have selected either the MAF sensor or the front O2 sensor.

Am I out of my mind or does anyone have any thoughts?

BTW, I've got close to 50k on it.

Thanks, Craig

Where'd you get an '02 Outback with a MAF? I'm pretty sure you're carrying a MAP.

What code came up with the CEL?

Ok, that shows just how new I am to this. Unfortunately, I didn't ask the techs at the time, so I can't tell you what the codes were. All I can tell you is the front cat was replaced and they said there was a low voltage on the rear fuel solenoid, both tripped a CEL at different times.

The pinging is what gets me. Also, my last tank only had 23 mpg when I had gotten as much as 31. My drives are mostly highway.

Any thoughts?

Ok, a local auto parts store pulls codes and they found 4 codes:

air intake solenoid signal 1-4 low (P1510,12,14,16)

Anyone?
