i'd like to see also. or if anyone tried it, how they compare to stock size 225-45-17. ie, is it worth it?

minimum wheel width for a 235/40-17 = 8.0"

2004 STi wheel width = 7.5"

while you can physically put the tire on the wheel it will not perform very well and the contact patch would be smaller than you would expect because the sidewalls are so, pinched in ..... and in order to reduce the extreme sidewall deflection it would cause you will have to run very high air pressure further reducing the contact patch and causing irregular wear

damn....that makes sense. I in a tough spot. I was able to pick up some new Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 235/40/17 at a good price and want to put them on my stock rims.

ive heard enough from the pro's about 225-45-17 still being better than 235-40-17 (on 7.5" wide rims) that it makes me want to stick with 225-45-17 and not mess with anything.
