Well, any suggestions? I know pretty well what it takes to get a motor to run well. It'll tkae a few grand, but it will be well worth it? Always :}. A few posts ago, I mentioned 300 horse from an N/A car, and got laughed at more than once. The recipe does include full head work, programmable fuel management, 12:1 compression, cams, rods...the whole schmorgasboard. I wish trey cobb would hurry it up! I'd like to see what you pull with your N/A car!
The stack fuel injection project is coming along well. Thanks to one of you -I forgot his name a the moment- I found the TWM web site and was very impressed by what they had to offer. There are options for a few different setups. The selection was great. But, my plans are still mine, no matter who thinks I'm crazy :}. Maybe someone HAS designed it already, I just haven't found them.
Aside from that, a built motor is just a matter of time. I don't have money to burn, but I have money to spend :}. I'm like most of you here with bills, too. I'd love to hear who has done what in terms of an all motor car. Headers, catbacks and intakes are kinda old. I already know I want the new borla header :]. I'm looking for people who have done headwork on these engines and others with fuel management and such. I've read about the TEC-II and was pretty impressed, but there are other systems. Searches don't yield too much other than differing opinions. Hope to hear something on this.

a friend of mine has said he has seen posts of honda preludes N/a with MAJOR engine work at up to 500hp...

dunno if its true or not...

What a coinkie-dink, I just happen to have wondered the same thing myself... and spent the past few weeks doing my homework.

So far there are two main options:
a) tweek the existing motor, Cobb Tuning has their Stage 2 kit then add Cams, this should be good for a claimed ~25-30% which according to my math ( let's see, carry the one, square root of the gravitational constant.. ) should be good for about ~210 bhp

b) Paeco has a Stage II drop in engine built off the 2.5 SOHC core, pumping out 239 bhp sans exhaust, header, intake, pulley, etc.. so you should be looking at about 250 bhp without too much trouble. They assured me that with an oil cooler this is a perfectly streetable motor. ( but it will idle lumpy and require premium gas only... lots of it I'm sure )

Totally N/A baby, ready to roll. I'd love the Paeco motor myself but I'm worried about the rest of the car being able to handle the added juice and hold together reliably for any length of time. I'm wanting to keep this puppy for a while ( say till 75K ). I'm just not sure how reliable either of these will be.

FYI, Paeco has a SRE ( Super Reliability Engine ) which is a Stage II swith milder cams and a lower compression ration that they claim will last, and last, and last, which makes 206 bhp sans toys so... figure 225 should be easy and last forever, but it costs the same as at full blown Stage II. I'm leaning towards this myself, and the motor swap should be about 10 - 15 hrs. labor according to Paeco and another shop I talked to.

Hope this helped

P.S. EVERYONE told me to seriously consider a heavy duty clutch with either of these.

Obviously this isn't for Scoobies, but I'd say that some of the greatest N/A engines come from Honda. Yes, I'm biased. And yes I have good reason! http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/biggrin.gif heheh

The Integra Type-R for instance. It's a serious, kick-butt, get-outta-my-way-or-I'll-flatten-you car.
195hp from that dinky I-4, with an 8,500-or-so redline. Handles like a madman, too. I *almost* bought one...

Of course there's the S2000, too. Oh it will be mine......oh yes.........it will be mine!

I have posted this many times, but the Leading Edge is the bomb...tell Rick that Randy sent you and you may get a free lunch out of it.
They have been building subie engines for years (5) and even have their own intakes made (different length runners). Their website is www.leadingedgeperformance.com (http://www.leadingedgeperformance.com) and with NA engines from 200 to 300 and turbo's from 300 to 650 (on alcohol) you be the judge. Quirt, the master design/builder
may show you his 1000+ nissan bomb if you are nice http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/wink.gif They are building them mostly for the sand rail crowd but Rally Knight is using them w/ the worst problem is they have to cover part of the radiator to get enough heat to develope (160 w/o and 185 with cover)

We'll be bringing something out to SEMA/West Coast Subaru meet that might be of interest to you NA guys.

Sorry to disappoint some of you though as it'll be in an Impreza, not a sand rail. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/tongue.gif

Hope to see you all there!

Cheers,
Trey

Trey,
Have you dyno'd your heads yet? I'm wicked curious as to the improvement in power etc.
