I was surfing the Web and came acroos this site, http://www.powerchip.com.au
they have chips for a lot of cars and for the ones that can't have a chip they have something like the icon. Anyway, looking around they have one for the Liberty/Outback with the 2.5NA engine. My question is would it work in our cars because they show some numbers that are quite impressive.
The engine stock has 115 Kw of power, don't know the conversion in Hp, and 223 Nm of torque. After the chip is install, they have two models so i'm going with the one that produces more, it ends up with 127 Kw and 246 Nm, That a 10% increase in power and torque.
Have anyone heard of them before or have try their chips?
115kw = 154.1hp
127kw = 170.2hp
i rounded off these figures

Boy, I find it really hard to believe that a chip(in a NA motor) can give you nearly 20 hp. Reeeeaally stretching the truth, I think.
Any statements that read, "As much as..."?

I was just going to say that Garrett gives VW/Audi a much bigger boost than that with the 1.8 motors....buuuut that's a Turbo.
Hrmm. Yeah I'd like to know more about these things...

I have heard of bigger increases on the V8's. They do a lot for the engine. Everything from better spark timming, to lowering the temp of the engine. Working in cordination with good wires (magnacore?), good plugs, and good ignition system, increase's can be even more impresive. Also if you are interested, you might want to check out jacobs electronics. They have some really good stuff. They mak all kinds of claims and guarentees. From what I have heard from V8 races I know they swear by there stuff. They won't use anything else.
They don't make factory plugs for our cars but they can send you a order form so that you can pick out the 'boot' and length of the wires that you want. They also offer ignition boxes as well. big $$ but from what I hear, big returns. If anyone is interested i will dig out the catalog for the 1-800 number.

So domestics swear by Jacobs eh? That's funny, because most of what I've heard about Jacobs (from the imports) is that...well..not worth the money, time and headache. Hmm..I think even someone on the board has mentioned something about Jacobs.

I spoke with Jacobs and they were very professional and told me that the Subaru's have a very efficient ignition system and their products would not give me any improvement. The guy I spoke with said the only product that he would sell me was a setting of indexing washers so that you can index your spark plugs for better efficiency. I think they were like $7.00 or something.

Powerchips is down under and don't list the 2.5 RS on their site. Probably since it a US only car. Superchips is in FLA and also has an ICON for "unchipable" cars. Cobb Tuneing has a piggy back model which they will program specifically for your mods.
Jacobs stuff is pretty good big in Jeep circles too. I was gonna get one of their ignitions for my Jeep, but I got the scooby first.
