"Race for the Sun" July 10th at Speedworld Motorplex on Grand Ave and Jomax Rd. The event will be street legal drags, requiring at least DOT's for tires and full exhaust. It is from Midnight(12am) to 6am Sunday morning.
Temps should be down in the 80's hopefully for this night, so its a good way to beat the heat.

You will only see the true die hards out at 2am in the morning. Maybe long lines for the first hour but I doubt that many people will be out late. This will definitely not be like the Import vs. Domestic that Speedworld had a while back. That event was just crazy with too many racers. This one, I think will bring the true die hards.

How was the event?

It was pretty weak, IMO. I showed up at 2:35, a full three and a half hours before the end of the event, and was told Tech was closed. Then I was told I couldn't bring a WATER into the event, so I had to throw that away. The rest of the event was a great chance for leghumpers to ogle mud wrestling highscoolers, which was pretty entertaining, although sad at the same time.

Some nice cars there, although like many "import scene" drag race events, the fast cars were greatly outnumbered by 19-second s***boxes covered in fiberglass and stickers.

I was surprised, though, at the number of cars in the lanes when I left at 4:30. I suspected there would be a lot fewer, but the place was absolutely packed.
