Hey Crew!
I'm trying to decide where to start on my modification processes. Under about $300 would be good. And, the more, (for the money)the better. With my past vehicles, I have gone 'show before go'. But this time, with the exception to my necessary stereo enhancements, I would like to start INSIDE my 00 RS. Some serious suggestions would be appreciated, as I am fairly new to Subaru-dom. Having just been forced out of the Honda world by damn thievs....and semi trucks!

First of all, thanx for not going back to Honda http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/wink.gif And for mods, there are lots. I suggest: GanzFlow Cold Air Intake ( http://www.imprezars.com/ ), K&N drop-in filter, and rear sway bar. My sway bar hasn't come in yet (Whiteline 18-22mm adjustable), but I do have the intake and filter. Killer bang for the buck, and you should be able to get all this for about $300. Lots of people say tires first, but that would probably be over $300 for a good set. I'm gonna wait till spring for that. Whatever you do, have fun!

The easiest, cheapest thing you can do is replace the Champion spark plugs with NGK's or something else. Anything is better than Champions! Sure, you won't gain 10hp, but you will notice better idle and smother acceleration. Not bad for ten bucks and about 45 minutes!

Get a lightweight flywheel.. No car should be cursed with a 26lb flywheel! http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smile.gif

1. Spark plugs!!! Get those cheap mangled plugs out of there! Your looking at under $60 for that upgrade (Denso Iridium being the most expensive)

2. Sway Bar!! Make the car twice as fun to drive! And when the season comes for new tires, even better. You can get 18 or 20mm sway bars in or around $100, unless you go adjustable with harder end links yada yada yada...

3. Motor and Transmission Mounts! Rid yourself of that horrible tranny bounce( http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/mad.gif ooh I remember that...) and a firmer input on drivability. I'm not sure about how much those cost these days?!!? $150?

From there, intakes, exhaust, S-AFC, Cams, Turbo, 60mm struts, new EMS, Heads, Dogbox tranny, adjustable center differ...(sorry got carried away) http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/biggrin.gif I kind of did it bass ackwards & if I had to do it all over again, I would have done it in the above order. I too had power in mind, but you can't beat handling and overall driving FUN with the few minor (almost mandatory) upgrades that are listed above.

I already have a Weapon R intake...so I can skip that step. I'm planning on doing the spark plugs on the next day the shops will be open.
I'm very interested in the tranny and engine mounts.
I hear nothing but great reviews on them. But:
1. Sure they may only cost like $150 or so, but aren't they very hard to do, and very expensive to have done for you?
2. The sway bars...do you need to purchase an adaptor kit to put them on. Front?
Rear?

You can get sway bars from Subaru, they make a 20mm bar for just under $100. Denso's are the best plugs for your car, you can get them from me for $60 shipped. HKS' plugs are the most expensive(around $140 for a set)
Primitive Racing sells Urethane reinforced tranny mounts for $68 with a $78 core charge. I'm pretty sure that Paul refunds that when you send him your mount. The motor mounts are $90 with a core charge of $184. www.writerguy.com/primitive/catalog1.htm (http://www.writerguy.com/primitive/catalog1.htm)
I believe they are fairly difficult to install, and hence fairly expensive to have done. Strut tower bars are another good handling performance item that you can get relatively inexpensively(around $200 for the really good ones.) Pick what is best for your car and pocketbook. Just thought I'd throw in my $0.02. Cya, Gary http://cwm.ragesofsanity.com/cgi-bin/r.cgi?random

I believe the magic number you're looking for is NA 33-2154. You guys correct me if I'm wrong.

Start with the swaybar. In the vendor area look for a post by Sugar. She can get 18 or 20mm bars for around $80 shipped. I have had VERY good luck ordering from her. The next thing would be tires. I had new tires done the day after I purchased my car. I promptly beat a friend of mine in an autocross. He had a swaybar, but stock tires. You might also look at Cobb cams. They are more than $300, but if you save your pennies, they look like they would be worth it. That is the next mod for my car. Above all have fun. Even stock this car is fun. Welcome to the world of Subaru.

I'm working on getting new spark plugs right now. I'm gonna follow up on the sway bar. And I'm thinking about getting Larrys Intake kit (to replace my weapon R).
The cams and mounts sound like they might be a little expensive for me for a while as I'm not very mechanically inclined when it comes to anything besides audio eqipment. I havn't rally crossed before and see no excessive participation in the near future, so tires may be unnecessary at the moment.
I'm still open to any further recommendations any of you may have.
