My friend has an audi a4 2.8, and he wants a custom muffler from midas. I told him to get a resonator so as to not make it too loud(he doesn't want it loud), and i told him to get stainless steel. Is there anything i should tell them to do while making the muffler, like the materials, or the process in which they do it. And, does anyone know what the midpipe for the a4 2.8 is? Well, from what I heard, when dealing with a cat back system, you want the piping to be mandrel bent, as opposed to stress bent (?) Mandrel leaves a nice smooth flow in the exhaust, where as stress will make hard turns. As far as midpipe, thickness wise, most would probably say 2.25 - 2.5 for N/A cars. Hope this helps. Custom cat backs aren't bad, ones made specificly for the car supposedly have all the mandrel bends at the proper places and angles.

I had a cat back made for me out of a Borla Boomer with the twin 3" DTM tips, i had a guy bend me the pipe(no resionator and not SS, the pipe that is) It's loud but not too loud. Ok it's rather loud. I stepped up from the stock 1 3/4" to a 2 1/4" pipe.

Ne-way Midas might not do the work for you espically in stainless. Buying the pipe alone is real expensive.
