View Full Version : They're going to fix it!

I posted here last week about not being able to get into first gear. I have a uppipe and mbc. Some guy told me it was my own fault and what'd I expect after "adding power that affects the transmission".

For whatever reason, the thread was deleted. I was clean with the dealer. I even left in the boost controller. They had installed the uppipe, so they obviously knew about that. I just got off the phone with them and they said "there were some signs of abuse" but that it was going to be covered. The first/second syncro/hub was fused together.

Not sure how much it would have cost, but they said they'll have a printout for my (morbid) curiosity when I pick up my car on Friday or Monday. (Depending on shipping) It's going to be fixed with the beefed up syncros that went in the 03 model.

Thanks for the support from those who gave it, and a big  to those who offered useless opinions.

FWIW there isn't any difference in the transmission internals, synchros or otherwise, from 02 to 03. The only change was the addition of a dampener in the clutch hydraulic system.

Except:

Shift Trans Main Prt #: 32201AB040
Synchro Set Prt #: 32650AA050
Synchro Set Prt #: 32650AA031
Gear 1st Driven Prt #: 32231AA740

That's just the ones I know about. I didn't know about the "dampener in the clutch hydraulic system"...

I wouldn't get too excited until you have the car back in your possession without a repair bill. There have been a number of instances where a dealer was planning on covering a transmission repair under warranty, but the regional rep deemed it to be abuse WITHOUT EVER SEEING THE CAR.

True!

Can we get a 'fingers crossed' smilie in here please?

I was told last Dec. that they were going to fix the 'grinding going into first while still moving' but was then denied 2 weeks later when I brought it in to have it done.
