my tranny just went out...so i was just wondering if any other transmission would drop right in a 99 2.5RS without any mods...and if there were any advantages/disadvantages to doing so...thanx

none will drop right in without ANY mods, other than a replacement RS tranny.
You could use an L , or Legacy tranny if you change the final drive. You could use a wrx tranny if you switch out a bunch of other stuff (shifter assembly, clutch setup, etc)


Edit: if you are still NA, the stock ratios are pretty good, I wouldnt recommend doing a wrx tranny swap, it wouldnt be worth the time/trouble/money
