i have spent a few hours rebuilding my dogbox, changing gear ratios, fixing other oem five speeds. I have noticed that there are chambers to catch solid particles, passages to allow oil to flow a certian way, and i think the main "pump"is the front diff ring gear. it spins and flings oil back and you can trace the flow around the trans, to the transfer case, up , over, forward, down and back again. i wonder if i went to rwd for drag racing and removed the front diff, would i need to think about a change in the flow of oil?
I was going to block off the front diff output holes, and maby fill the void left by the front diff with something light so i would not need a lot of oil to get level back to norm. maby a ballon of some sort. playground kick ball? better than 10lbs of oil.
would parts still get enough fresh oil to keep cool, like the rear shaft bearing (bushing) that goes to driveshaft?
I know this will get flamed for being in the wrong forum, but i think drag racers have good opinions. some one in aus has gone rwd for drag'n and i can't find the post. anybody know someone without a front diff?
