I am really getting into weight reduction for my 2000RS. I have a couple of questions that I hope someone can answer. How much do the factory bumper beams weigh? I have ordered the light weight STI ones and they weigh 5lbs. each. I also want to know how much the factory steel hood weighs? How much does the factory rear deck lid weigh? I am about to order the aluminum hood and rear deck lids. So if anyone knows how much the factory steel parts (bumper beams, hood deck lid) weigh, please let me know!

If you are doing this for racing(SCCA) be sure to check the rules for your class. Many of these mods are illegal in some autocross clases.

theres so many free things you can do to the car to reduce weight. Empty the trunk of the tools, jack, carpet, lining, tire, take the mat and bubble sheet from behind teh back seat. take the glove box weight out. remove the cruise control module. take off the sun visors, take out the sunroof motor, take off any un=needed accessories, (sunroof deflector, amp/sub etc). If you don't listen to the radio take out the system, speakers, door panels. Airbag units. Take out the center support weight under the car. i could keep going on .....

Diet and lots of exercise.

Oh, THAT kind of weight reduction.....!

You'll have to forgive me, I'm a personal
trainer- it's an instant reflex! LOL

I have done most of those things already. I don't run SCCA so I am not concerned with that. I just wonder if anyone knows the weight of the factory bumper beams, hood, and rear deck lid. Someone must know!

From what Ive heard....
The hood and bumper beams are worthwhile, the rear lid isnt. (only 1-2lbs difference supposedly)
