OK so i went to tahoe for the 4th of july with my GC6 2000 and before i left i noticed a coolant leak. damn. On highway 80 the temp gauge when crazy down hill it went up and up hill it went down. sucked so bad pullin off every other exit filling the radiator. I just did the timing belts, water pump(tWRX so i can turbo it later) probly bad idea , but i didn't do the thurmostat just the housing(i kept he RS stock on cause someone told me it ist'n a big deal and it's the same and if it's good it's the same as turbo) but coolant is coming from both sides of the motor. more on the waterpump side. It almost looks like the overflow tank is leaking but it's not. I thought the radiator was cracked but now that i'm back in santa cruz it's not leaking as much and it's hard to tell. i did put some crazy radiator lubracant that plugs holes in the hoses and radiator when i got to sacramento. All i hear is that junk will mess my radiator up and now all my hoses are white now so i know where it is comin form, it was leakin bad when i was in tahoe now it's pretty dry. It stinks like burning coolant when i drive it. I put it on some ramps and looked around with a good light nothin came out when i had it running on there . and i tightend alot of clamps on the hoses. i'm worried about the radiator being cracked or hoses messed up. i know that around 75,000 cooling is a problem with subies so i need help. I got 66.000 suggestions please? anyone heard of this before? Tips on what to look for? I'm hopin a gasket isn't blown.
I am thinking of pullin the engine and goin with a ej2.2t block and slapin on the ej25 heads and makin a beast and taking my time to do it right probly the best way. Pics available if needed for diagnosis.
