I raced the quickest Z28 (Out of all the Z28's there) and an alcohol burning banshee last night at a 'back-woods (http://hometown.aol.com/basedirt/myhomepage/business.html)' streetrace. Well, as I raced the banshee, a large fireball shot out of my exhaust sometime between 2nd and 3rd gear. I didn't know it but everyone was running over to me when I came back saying how cool it was. 2 guys got it on digital camera and one is going to send it to me when he gets a chance.
02 readings and EGT readings were fine during the run(s). The exhaust smelled fine and the car ran fine. I did see the fireball on the film but it was really dark where we raced so you couldn't see any real detail.
What is this supposed to mean?

Someone posts where street races are going to happen http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/eek.gif
Did you notice anything out of the ordinary? Could have been some overrun from your nitrous (if you are still using it). At least there was no permanent damage.

Rao, it's cool. Hehe! The chief of police is ok with it as long as no-one called the police. Some drunks that came to the races ended up calling them because the people basically ran them out of there (for drinking) but that's a whole 'nother story.
I was running the NOS and was running rich, maybe too rich. Better safe than sorry. Lots of smoke coming from the exhaust but nothing out of the ordinary. Everything seems fine. I'll take it that it was maybe an 'overrun'. Um...what's that?

That's my made up name for describing the nitrous and extra fuel (I don't remember how you are adding extra fuel) continuing to be supplied after you let off the gas to shift - that would be a likely cause of the fireball.
Suunds like fun.

Lots of smoke coming out of the exhaust is ordinary?
When there is a backfire, the catalysts are very vulnerable to damage.
LOL. Damn, I can't keep my own cars straight, let alone everyone elses http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/biggrin.gif. In that case I have no idea what caused the fireball http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/confused.gif
