Did you strip the head or the threads? outbacksport 07-16-2004, 01:25 PM i stripped the gripping points on the nut outbacksport 07-16-2004, 01:26 PM we have the car to where the front tires are off the ground. armand1 07-16-2004, 04:22 PM If you haven't tried any penetrating oil (like Kroil or PB Blaster, NOT WD-40), I'd apply a bit of that first, tap the nut/bolt, and apply some more penetrating oil after an hour or two. Also, prepare by getting a replacement nut or two (or bolt, if you misspoke) of the correct strength grade (probably from the dealer). To get the nut off, one thing that people sometimes have success with is hammering/jamming a slightly-too-small "throwaway" socket onto the nut, then using a breaker bar to loosen it. I'm assuming that vise-grips have already been tried and haven't worked. To prevent future rounding-off, be sure to use 6-pt sockets in the future in these types of cases.
