Hello,

See pic: http://members.aol.com/oneimprezzivers/tecIIpulleyaligned.jpg

If you look at the white spot on the pulley(that is a notch). What is the purpose of that notch and the purpose of the numbers on the plastic timing belt cover? I am assuming its to advance/retard factory timing but how would one do that if the subaru motor EJ25 SOHC is a non-interference motor and uses a coilpack ignition system instead of a distributor?

Reason why I ask is because I was installing Vishnu's TEC-II Over the weekend and well instructions says to align that notch to the timing cover mark 0, indicating TDC. To me this is not TDC because if you take off that pulley in it's current place, you see the crankshaft sprocket not aligned to TDC(which Factory Service Manuals states aligning the sprockets white notch to the notch on the block by the crankshaft sensor which is positioned at 12 o'clock). The pic shows it at 9 o'clock when the outer pulley is aligned to the timing cover mark of 0.

Here's the pic of the sprocket:

Please, I need input....

THank you!
