View Full Version : Will 235x40x17 Fit a WRX? DILLIGAF Racing 07-24-2004, 10:41 AM Well will it? Rail 07-24-2004, 11:56 AM Sedan: You probably won't have any fitment issues, depending on the offset of your wheels. Wagon: No. Axan 07-24-2004, 01:39 PM I had 235/45/17 on rotas and my car was lowered using eibachs, no rubbing or any other issues even with 4 ppl in the car. 235/40 are bit smaller so you should be fine too. Oh ya like Rail said if its a wagon forget it. DILLIGAF Racing 07-24-2004, 05:54 PM Its a sedan dan avoN7 07-24-2004, 06:52 PM im running 235/40/17 on 17x8 +44 ce28's. No rubbing at all. boxerT 07-25-2004, 02:23 AM 255/40/17 on stock STI suspension and wheels, Kumho Victoracers, no rubbing at all. Axan 07-25-2004, 05:44 PM boxerT stock sti wheels? as in bbs from 04 sti? if so they are 7.5" and that width is too small to run 255 so the only reason your tires don't rub is because they are not as wide as 255s would be if you had a wide enough wheel for proper fittment ( atleast 8.5" ) Turbocharge 07-26-2004, 01:26 AM Since the question has been answered I guess I can ask.. I own a wagon and want to know whats the biggest wheels/ tires i can fit on my car. 225/45/17? 225/40/18? Not lowered, but thinking about dropping 1.5 inches. Thanks dorifto88 07-26-2004, 05:35 AM why not 245's? :D subieworx 07-26-2004, 10:39 AM An unlowered wagon can easily fit 235 45 17's. Lowered depends on the offset of the wheel. I have a friend lowered on Eibachs with 225 45 17's with no rubbing issues on 53 mm offset wheels. dj76 09-04-2004, 12:08 PM Hi, i'm running 235/40R17 AD07 on 17x8.5 enkei es-tarmac with ohlins coilovers with a moderate drop giving me 2.25 fingers front, 2 at the rear (on a MY04 WRX sedan) The rear DOES rub with tight+sudden cornering where the Gs really shift the weight sideways (not sure if this is a good explanation), but normal progressive big sweepers are fine :) now i have a question (need some advice) : should i go for some fender rollin'? well, its a PITA when a good corner gets foiled by the occassional rubbin'... :( help! plssss... dan avoN7 09-04-2004, 12:12 PM Yea before i wasnt rubbing but i recently lowered my car so its about 1 finger gap in the rear. With just me in the car on turns where im really pushing it i rub slightly and with someoen in the rear i rub if i take a turn somewhat fast. Going to roll them in a few days and see how it all goes. I think the main reason for my rubbing is the +44 offset. neuspeed 09-04-2004, 02:51 PM Camber bolts in the rear :) dan avoN7 09-04-2004, 08:30 PM Camber bolts in the rear :) zeal function b6 coilovers that come with camber plates :D Only option is to roll the fenders. dj76 09-07-2004, 05:06 AM Yea before i wasnt rubbing but i recently lowered my car so its about 1 finger gap in the rear. I think the main reason for my rubbing is the +44 offset. if ya using 235/40/17 on 17x8 +44 and i'm on 235/40/17 17x8.5 +48, then i'm in REAL need for some fender rollin'... my rear tyres are FLUSHED with the fender walls... and the rubber strips r starting to come off as well.. in fact, adjusting the damping n height doesnt help at all, still rubs... hell, keep me posted after u do ya fenders will u? thks! dan avoN7 09-07-2004, 05:09 AM yea i will. I'm planning on rolling them on tuesday. Someone i know locally has a friend that has one of those professional rollers so ill give it a shot. Yea removing the rubber strip doesnt give that much more room. petawabit 09-07-2004, 05:11 PM i run 17x8 ce's as well in 44 offset with azenis sports sized 245/45/17. i did get rubbing with my tein ra's at the track, but rolled the fenders and no more rubbing:-) dan avoN7 09-07-2004, 05:26 PM i run 17x8 ce's as well in 44 offset with azenis sports sized 245/45/17. i did get rubbing with my tein ra's at the track, but rolled the fenders and no more rubbing:-) how are 245's on the 8 wide wheel? I am running 235/40/17 s-03's but want to try some other tires after this set since they are pretty expensive. Most tires only come in either 225 then jump to 245. petawabit 09-07-2004, 05:37 PM yeah, like the azenis sports. they fit fine and don't look too big for the rim at all. they are pretty heavy tires and one can feel the weight difference. if you track the car, i think it would help, but the 235's should save you weight and should be more than enough on the street. |
