Hi All!

I have 205/40 15" Toyo Proxes RA1 on my low grade JDM MY00 WRX NA w/ STI Adjustable Suspension

I am thinking of going to 17" fairly soon and looking for a better R Compound tire for my Pra (Subaru name, resulting from extensive name calling for the impreza).

I am thinking of the BridgeStone Potenza RE55S, Yokohama Advan AD048 and most of all, Pirelli PZero Corsa.

The Pirelli are use alot in tarmac racing here in Barbados and the wrc by subaru.

Is there anyone out there that have gone through different brands of R-Tire that can give a good review on them (except for the Bridgestone which is Japanese spec)?

I am looking for dry and wet performance, very hot conditions, very wet areas performance, tread wear, cornering performance and so on.

Thanks

Is this JUSt for track driving, or all-the-time? If it's all-the-time, you really don't want R-Comps.

I have been driving on R Compound tires for 2 years now. Its more street driving than track.

Our roads are very slippery. Hence the traction need.

I future responses, please advice on what I am looking for and not for (they are not for normal street driving).

Thanks

RA-1's are some of the longest lasting R compounds so for street driving, I'd say those are probably what you want. For a track only car, where those last tenths of a second are important, there certainly are more grippy R comps out there. Honestly though, on the street, I doubt you'd notice too much difference. I used to run RA-1's on the street and I was never dissapointed.

I've only had experiences with Michelin pilot sport cups and ad048's. I thikn the 048's are awsome, but very loud on the street, while the cups are slightly less noisy. both had great traction, but I wasn't able to really warm them up like they would be on a track.

how are the streets slippery in your area? what are the roads like? I've never heard of "slippery" roads where you'd get better traction w/ a Rcomp tire over a regular summer tire.??

The asphalt here use small stone stones. When you look at the road, is like glass, with hardly any grip, 2-3x worst when wet. Even walking on the road when sprinkle, can be dangerous.

I guess you are very fortunate to have good roads, like what I saw in NY.

Can you give a little bit more details on how they ride and handle in both wet and dry?

You might want to consider the Kumho V700 as well. Makes a decent rain tire compared to other R-compounds. But will not last as long as the RA-1's. Which is what I would probably stick with.

I will stick with the Toyo for awhile. just need coe review on the Pirellis compare to the others.

Otherwise, I am going toward the Bridgestone Potenza RE55s
