View Full Version : Maine Forest Rally

Gee, less than a week to go and nobody's mentioned Maine yet. So I shall.

Having found no less than three separate problems with my fuel system since Rim, and destroying two motors at Pike's Peak (one of which caught fire!) because of two of them, I'm planning on finishing the damn event! :D

The RallyTV folks will be there producing another DVD.

Rally America will be covering it on www.rally-america.com under the Live Updates section (satellite Gods willing of course).

The weather forecast looks pretty good.

Anybody else going to be there?

Cheers,
-Doug

Man, they let just anybody post on here don't they Quirt... :D You've still got a wide-boy motor to rebuild for me so don't spend all your time on the Internet!

Sorry Morgana, my bad. I'm still a Scooby Newbie after all.

Pete I plan on having both rear drive shafts stay in place this year (I've got the right ones this time  ) so I hope you get some good photos for me.

Testing is at Team O'Neil on Wednesday and we'll find out for sure if we've got all the problems solved. I'm definitely looking forward to this one, even if I'm not on the entry list yet. That's always a bit disconcerting even though SuperNavvie assures me it's all handled.

See y'all at the brew pub? (Except for California boy, of course)

Cheers,
-Doug

I'm not certain of what time, but I'll probably be there some time Thursday evening. Morgan will probably be there all night and into Friday morning partying like it's 1999.

As long as you can make it by me. At Sno*Drift, you went off 1/4 mile past me. At Rim, you rolled 1/4 mile past me. I hope I'm not the jinx.

IS SUnday River closer to Canada? We are cutting across from MI. I guess it depends on how long it takes us.

I HOPE to be there around 7-8pm. IF so, I have no problem going to SR for it! Guess we gotta play it by ear.

Sunday River (Brewery) is on Route 2 about 20 miles West of Rumford (which puts it about half way between Rumford and the NH line on Rt. 2).

If you're coming across Canada (on 401), it should be right on your way because:

1) if you come down Interstate 89 in Vermont (through Burlington) Route 2 splits off in Montpelier and goes all the way across VT, NH, and into Maine.

-OR-

2) You can also pick up Route 2 off of Interstate 91 in St. Johnsbury VT (about an hour of 2-lane East-North-East of Montpelier)

Get out a map and take a look :)

Hope this helps!

I make it to Sunday River from Burlington, VT in about 3 hours (3-1/2 to Rumford.) I think maybe 2-1/2 from Montpelier on Rt. 2. Of course, I know the roads, drive briskly, and pass like a man possessed, so others' mileage may vary...

Go that way. The less time spent on Rt 2, the better, IMO. It's PAINFUL from Montpelier all the way to the NH border. At Montreal get onto 10 Est towards Sherbrooke. Switch to 55 Sud at Magog and it eventually links up with I-91 in VT.

I don't envy you guys that drive. I used to kill myself doing Toronto-Bangor every few weeks.
