Hey all. I noticed something. I ordered the perrin short ram for my 04 sti, installed it, etc. everything seems to be running fine. Then I was looking online and noticed that the filter that I got looks like the filter from the BIG MAF Intake, although the MAF adapter looks correct. What's the difference between the big foamy filter and the one covered in that cage like thing? Interestingly, I stumbled on a website of someone else who ordered the same short ram from World One and got the same filter. What's up with this?

The filter that came with the cage was discontinued in favor of the one that you have now quite some time ago. The ones with the cages on them have not been around since prior to february of this year.
The filter that you have is the one that I run on our STI and it is far easier to clean.
Thanks for placing your order with us and if you have any more questions please let me know!

Cool, thanx for the quick response. Everything else seems cool. One quick q. I have noticed that with the intake, I get a bit more lag during the day while everything seems fabulous (definition=more pull) at night. Obviously temperature differences factor in here. Do you guys notice this? Also, is it ok for me to be running this intake w/o engine management. I have 3 friends already who have blown their blocks b/c of bolt ons. Thanx

Yes the picture that is on the page is outdated. The new filter hasn't been around for all that long and we haven't gotten an updated product photo on it yet.
Wap..
You shouldn't really be noticing a sizeable difference between night and day. Temperature certainly plays a roll, and your car most definately might feel a tad stronger when it is cool, but I don't think that the intake would create this variance if it didn't exist before. Keep an eye on things and let me know if you have any more questions!

Does the Perrin intake offer any type of guarantee against damage to the MAF sensor like Turbo XS does? I like the Perrin intake, but I want something that I know isn't going to damage my car in the long run.
thanks,
Jason
