Does the TXS Stealthback Cause Boost Creep?

View Full Version : Does the TXS Stealthback Cause Boost Creep? subaru18 07-25-2004, 05:41 PM Does the TXS Stealthback Cause Boost Creep? titsataki 07-25-2004, 07:54 PM With the hi-flo cat it should not. I am guessing as long as you keep the stock axleback you should be ok. Now if you go catless this can change. But most likely the stock axleback will keep you creep free. Regards subaru18 07-25-2004, 08:30 PM The TurboXS Full Turboback Exhaust system includes the TurboXS Super-Huge Downpipe, the 3" TurboXS High-flow Cat section, the 3" TurboXS rear-mid pipe, and the TurboXS muffler. I don't see a axleback so I will be keeping the stock one. The Hi-Flo cat section indicates that it will be legal since its using cats? How many cats does it use, just 1 or both? I wan't to stay away from boost creep. roybfr 07-25-2004, 11:57 PM There is only 1 cat with the TXS TBE so technically it would be not be legal, as the removal of any of the cats is illegle, which is why most exhaust are sold for "off road use only". The axle back is just the muffler which they sell alone or with the rest. It is a direct replacment for the stock muffler. Of the people that I know that have the TXS TBE with a CAT none are exhibiting boost creep. If you are that worried about boost creep just port the wastegate. CoreyRED02 07-26-2004, 12:14 AM I have the catless XS SB. Zero creep for the first few months. Creep at 40 degrees or less in 5th after about 6 months. Most recently creep at 60 degrees in 5th. I'm not sure if the computer is just getting more agressive or what. I would recomend that you port the wastegate so you don't have to worry about future mods. My $0.02 CoreySTi04 John Sever 07-26-2004, 02:07 AM I am creep free with a catless Stealth back and stock sti muffler. Had bigtime creep with the scoobysport muffler I have. MattSTi 07-26-2004, 06:40 AM I went ahead and ported the wastegate (didn't remove too much material, mostly polished and rounded the inside edge of the wastegate opening) when installing my stealthback. I would highly recommend porting the turbo when you have everything off, it really doesn't take too much time. I am 100% boost creep free and happy with the exhaust. jsalicru 07-26-2004, 12:34 PM I have a video of sounds... its kinda large though.. but if anyone is interested, I just need to upload it PulpFiction 07-26-2004, 05:22 PM Please post. I'm about to order the stealth for my 04 STI and would like to know how it sounds. Would you say it is any louder? How would you rate the performance increase? Do you have any other mods? I Had the same on my 02 WRX and liked it, both sound and results. Thx, Pulp jsalicru 07-26-2004, 08:24 PM The sounds is a slight increase only. Enough to make it sound better, not enough for everyone and their mom to take note. My current mods are this and removed the intake silencer... Im currently running the stock STi axel back Sometimes it rattles a little, but it isn't annoying or anything... Here is a link to the video, you are going to need QuickTime. StealthBack Video... (http://homepage.mac.com/jsalicru/.cv/jsalicru/Public/STi1.mov-link.mov) jsalicru 07-26-2004, 08:28 PM Oh yeah... definely feel an improvement in acceleration, more specifically, in 3-4th. Sorry for the long intro... this video was made for my brother, who has not seen some aspects of the car... Of note... for some reason, my car barely backfires... I have only heard little backfires when free revving it... and by that I mean little... I have seen another video where the car in it backfires a lot... and loud too... SO I dont know why mine is so different. Golfa 07-26-2004, 09:43 PM no creep with the hi-flow cat for me (i have full TXS TBE with RFL Muffler) Irishman 07-27-2004, 01:41 PM Your stealthback sounds great. jsalicru 07-27-2004, 04:20 PM thanks :) To get the full effect of the exhaust one really has to have nice computer speakers with like a sub or something... titsataki 07-27-2004, 10:58 PM Ιs that catted or catelss? It sounds great much more authority than the stock.. :D Regards Nick thanks :) To get the full effect of the exhaust one really has to have nice computer speakers with like a sub or something... burnin4 07-28-2004, 01:08 AM I originally started out with a catless TXS Stealthback... the sound was deeper, with little increase in overall power. I had a raspy sound where the stock axleback mounted with the TXS exhaust. After about 2 months I added the TXS axleback (not rfl) and was extremly happy with the sound. Also, I actually noticed a bigger improvement in performance after adding the axleback compared to the stealthback results, I think the axleback allowed the rest of the exhaust to breath much better. I have been driving the piss out of my STi for several months without any boost creep what so ever. I'm guessing that I will experience it when the weather gets cooler. Anyway, I'd recomend going with the full TXS tbe over the stealthback, you won't get the sound or performance you are looking for. jsalicru 07-28-2004, 03:26 AM I originally started out with a catless TXS Stealthback... the sound was deeper, with little increase in overall power. Yeah, i think that I would prefer the whole exhaust.. .its just that i want it to be 3" (which means I have to get the last pipe new from XS) and I worried about the noise... dont really like to get harrased by CA police... Thanks for the complements on the exhaust.. its kinda cool.. stock with some more authority. |
