I love both, but the bottom set makes my pants happy.

How is the top differ than what we have here? It looks almost exactly the same except for the BBS center cap. Guess I'm interested in the weight and material differences.

perhaps you need to clarify that these are on the 04 or 05 Spec C ;)

Max at www.gruppe-s.com sells nearly the full set of "Ha ha, you lousy Americans can't have them" wheels.

:D

http://www.gruppe-s.com/Sti/sti_5.jpg 17-18"
http://www.gruppe-s.com/Sti/sti_10.jpg 17"
http://www.gruppe-s.com/Sti/sti_6.jpg 16"
http://www.gruppe-s.com/Sti/rays_rszero.jpg 17-18"

And yes, even those 16"s will clear the gold Brembos.

16"s don't clear.. only the 17s+ with * next to it clears.

Hmm, didn't notice that...

The way Max has that page laid out I suppose is a bit confusing. If it were meant to be that the asterisk designates which wheels clear the Brembos, I think it'd be better to just asterisk the wheels that do, then only have one "Clears Brembo calipers" statement, maybe at the top or bottom.

Having it under each wheel is confusing, particularly when he describes the color of each wheel, underneath each wheel. See what I mean?

EDIT: I've Emailed Max to have him chime in. You're probably right, but it's still confusing!

What godai said, AFAIK those 16s (or any known 16) dont clear the STi Brembos.

I can picture how it could be cast but I am not sure it would be very stong. Never heard of one tho.

Have you seen how barely the stock 17s clear? I don't think 16 is possible.

Sixteens will clear the Subaru 4pots wich come standard of some version's of the japanese STi .... http://www.subaru.co.jp/impreza/wrx/mechanism/14/imgs/p1.jpg

Well, the four-pot GC STi calipers fit pretty tightly under 16x7 wheels. Everyone thought that's the smallest wheel you could buy for them.

But there were rally wheels (like the Raceline RL-7) which cleared them in a 15" size. So don't you go doubting those wheel engineers. :D

saar,
That particular silver wheel looks to me like the 17" WRX wheel from the EDM market. Just like the USDM '02-'04 wheel, but 17" instead of our 16."

There's way too much space between wheel and caliper for that to be a 16."

And the four-pots come standard only on the STi Spec-C (which gets 16" steel wheels). The others get the new Brembos, AFAIK.

Ah.. that's because those are smaller size brakes. Some Spec C comes with smaller brakes and wheels thats why they cost less.

Don't confuse fitting 4 pot caliper or not with size. The 16s in Spec C are not the same size brakes as the 17s. You cannot fit the USDM STi brakes on anything but 17s+. Notice the difference between gold and red calipers and sizes.

Uh, yeah, I'm aware of that. :) The Spec C uses GC STi calipers.
