ok i got a full stage 4 vf30 turbo with perrin fmic

i currently have iridium spark plugs one step colder, and i was told to change to copper, but copper i jsut cant change my plugs every 5-10k..........

so what i am asking is is it optimal thing to use platnium one step colder? or shouldi use the copper? is there any diff between copper and platnium on the dyno? or in drivability?

thank you
and i did a search couldnt find anything

What's wrong with the plugs you have?

Did the teller tell you why? I'm running Irids with a heck of a lot more power than you have, on a much higher-revving engine, and it's just fine so far. Lots of people have run them. Unless you are actually having a problem, relax and don't do anything.

Sparkplugs do not, despite the splitfire claims, make power. As long as you are cleanly igniting the mixed gasses and are not too cold, too hot or suffering from blowout (all of which are fairly easy to spot with gauges and experience), don't mess with success.

That said, I would suspect, given the conductive properties, irids are going to work out better than platinums.

The book on plugs basically reads like this:

Copper - best spark, shortest life (by a factor of 5-10 vs. P or I), cheapest (by a factor of 4-6)

Platinum - worst spark, longest life (see Copper), expensive, do not use with nitrous.

Iridium - Similar spark properties to Copper, similar life properties to platinum, expensive, potential drawbacks allegedly include a thin element (easier to foul or blow out if mis-gapped). Denso IK plugs use a much thinner element than the NGK -EIX plugs, so they are more likely to suffer from the alleged drawbacks.

If you are having plug problems, check your tips and gaps before blindly buying another set of plugs.
