I know there are a lot of threads on water ingestion in the forums, but I couldnt find any on water ingestion problems with this intake.

On the GM6 I recently bought (first Subaru! I have been waiting 6 years for this!) it came with the Weapon R cone intake, that sits directly under the hood scoop.

I have read that this set-up comes with a rain guard, but I did not get one with the car. Is this a serious problem?

I know the Cobb intake is far and away a superior solution, but with college comming in two weeks I simply dont have the time or the money do undertake such an upgrade.

i think as long as you keep your filter clean and oiled properly... you shouldn't have a problem. i know of a few people who run without the vent backing plate and have had no issues. i am contemplating whether or not i should remove the plate to increase air flor to my cone filter, so i'd be interested in what others have to say. so far i've heard a people go one way or another, but i don't believe i've ever heard of anyone having issues with this set-up. anyone have any issues without the backing plate over a cone filter intake? thanks to anyone who helps and to subarushian, enjoy the car!
