I should be getting my Accessport soon, so I have a few questions. I am planning on running the stage 1 map. The only mods I have is a prodrive axleback, perrin intercooler hoses and,an apexi turbo timer. I always fill up on 93 octane. I heard that you should use the 91 map if you have 93 octane. Is this true and is anyone running the 93 map with 93 gas? Also will my minor mods affect anyhting after I do my flash? Any help would be great! Thanks much.

The mods I have on my STi just include a TBE and I run a Stage 3 93 oct map. I always put 93 or 94 in my car, no issues.

The only difference between the 91 and 93 oct maps is timing. The 91 oct map runs a little more conservative timing.

I have used the stage 1 93 map w/ 93 octane for the past month with no problems. Hopefully, if all goes according to plan, I'll be stage 2 by next Wed

i would go with 93 unless you drive to areas where 93 isn't available. i reflashed my car just a few weeks ago and it has been super hot and muggy ever since. the car runs great and mileage hasn't changed that i can tell. I got this info from Trey at cobb, they are older versions of the maps, but i'm sure they haven't changed that mutch:

target peak boost
> AE-WRX-0201-91 = 15psi @ 4000 RPM
> AE-WRX-0201-93 = 15.5psi @ 4000 RPM
> AE-WRX-0202-91 = 15.5psi @ 3400 RPM
> AE-WRX-0202-93 = 16psi @ 3400 RPM

He also said the 91 has less ignition advance and the 91 map boost drops faster than the 93.

buy a cheap downpipe like the bosal (~$220) and go with stage 2. You won't get a CEL because the cobb ecu will change the range for the O2 sensor. i have the exact same setup set up (prodrive muffler, bosal dp, stage 2 93 octane) and you will like it. Unlike most, i didn't do it for speed per say, i did it for drivability. My boost guage showes 1 bar (14.5 psi) around 2800 rpm in 3rd-5th gear. At first the car felt slower because the pop from 4-5000 rpm is gone. Now the call just pulls steady from 3000 to redline, it feels like a V8. without the downpipe, you won't get the same power down low.

Did you run stage 1 at all? If so were you running 91 or 93 map. As far as stage 2 do you still have your stock midpipe with that set up? I want to get a uppipe/downpipe soon, but I want to check out stage one for a while. I almost bought the xs stealthback about 5 times but I am not sure still. I was going to buy the one with the mid cat and I dont know if it is a waste sine I heard the mid pipe doesnt really matter.

i never ran stage 1 so i can't compare. i am using the stock 3rd cat and resonator pipe. lots of people are running the stage 2 without a full turbo back. i decided it wasn't worth getting a full exhaust because i have no plans to go to a larger turbo. According to cobb, the downpipe is the most restrictive part. That is why you can run stage 2 with just a downpipe. Replace that and add a straight through muffler and you have most of the same benefits of a full exhaust. I think a 2.5" system is perfectly fine for the td04. A 3" might get you a few more hp at the top of the rpm range, but i felt it wasn't worth the extra money.

i also considered the turboXS exhaust, since their shop is under an hour's drive away from me. Their downpipe is loud enough that a couple people have uninstalled it because it was so annoying. You will also lose some ground clearance, which for me was unacceptable. I want to be able to drop my car an inch and not have to worry about scraping over speed bumps. I was considering getting the cobb downpipe and use it with the stock resonator pipe and my prodrive muffler. I bet that set up would make the same power as the txs exhaust, but uses a better cat, gives up no ground clearance, adds a wideband O2 sensor after the turbo, and has a quieter downpipe (so they say). Only problem is the wait...

Can someone explain the realtime map switching?

Is the general concept that you flash your ECU with multiple maps (how many maps at once?) then switch between the maps? How is this done? The only thing I understand is the realtime switching doesn't reduce the number of reflashes left on the ECU.

Thanks!

Dave - who is $584 short of an Accessport

When you flash your ECU, you are only sending one map. That map will be flashed to your ECU and will stay there until you reflash again or unmarry the AP. The realtime map is sort of optional. You can run the reflashed base map only if you choose. The realtime map is not flashed to your ECU and can be changed as many times as you wish.

For example, Your mods included just a TBE, so you want to run stage 2. If you choose to reflash your ECU with Stage 1 93 oct base map. That map is going to stay in your ECU all the time, even when you reset the ECU. You then can run the Stage 2 realtime map since you have a TBE. When you reset the ECU or the battery is disconnected...you will have to resend a Stage 2 realtime map.

Think of the base map as non-volitile memory and the realtime map as volitile memory.

So if I am runing Stage 1 91 octane, I use that as my base map and realtime map?

Base map is burned into the ecu.

realtime map can be saved over the base map and it takes control, base map is just there for backup.

If you disconnect the battery, the base map takes over and you lose the realtime map since it's not burned/ flashed into the ecu.

You can burn the stage 1 91 base map and run the stage 1 91 realtime map. The realtime map will be the active map and the base map will be the backup map if the ecu looses power. Kinda a waste though that way. Just run the base map and no realtime map if that's the setup you want.

I ran the stock map for my base map and stage 2 93 realtime map for over a month. ran 93 octane. That way if I were to take the car into the dealer, I would just disconect the battery and have a stock car again.

Never had a problem.

Thanks for the explination, guys.

Is there a way to switch between the base and real time map without disconnecting the battery? Would hate to have the car relearn everything unless that's the only way to get back to the base map.

The base map is loaded and forgotten, which is why I chose the stock one.

You can switch between any realtime map at any time for any reason.

Load the base map and forget it exists.

Play with the realtime maps and have fun.
