Everyone knows that different tuners make different numbers. I'm getting rid of my UTEC and getting flashed to the EcuTek because it's safer and I'm just wondering if anyone else here has gotten flashed by them and their experiences and HP #s. My engine mods are: uppipe, turboback (cat-less), BOV, colder plugs, FMIC, PE1820, 6500ccs, short ram intake. With the UTEC tuned by Nathan at TurboXS I made 308 WHP and 280 WTQ which I was very happy with. So what kind of numbers am I going to see?
EDIT: Also after I was tuned I installed an exedy flywheel, ACT clutch and STi RA gearset.

Dave @ RalliSpec is a great guy with ALOT of experience. I am sure he will do you well.
As for the EcuTek reflash being safer... I don't really agree with that. ANY engine management in the wrong hands can kill a motor. Also, if tuned to the same degree, no engine management can CREATE more hp without more fuel and air. All things equal, all engine management will produce the same numbers. Like you said, its the tuner that makes the difference and what HE considers safe.
BTW- isn't 6500cc's quite abit of fuel? lol! Just pulling your chain... ;)

Uhh, yeah they are... ummm.. "modified" PE650s :D I'm making THAT MUCH power that I need the 6500ccs :)
Getting the EcuTek on Wednesday from RalliSpec, I'm excited. The reason I went with the EcuTek is because I've stopped modding, have no need for the user tunability. Plus even on a custom tune by TurboXS in MD I'm getting bad partial throttle hesitations and random engine knocks all over the RPM range. With the EcuTek I believe it's safer because it still utilizes the stock ECU's lookup tables and uses the IAM for knock correction adjustment.

You can't go wrong w/ either tuner. Did you get some lower octane gas to get the Utec knock events? The hesitations are a PITA, but I feel the multiple Utec maps to deal w/ weather, octane, valets, theft, etc. are invaluable.

I am scheduled to get a Ecutek flash tomorrow at Rallispec. I have a UTEC but it was off my old EJ205 and was told it wouldn't work with my EJ207 swap. So I am getting a flash and after that I am probably going to put the UTEC on(was told Ver6b will work) with a C16 map for the WRX vs EVO meet @ E-town on 9-11.

All of my maps had that hesitation unfortunately and I didn't want to butcher maps that I paid good money for just to get it to run right :(
Also, I"ll probably be at RalliSpec tomorrow depending on if they are finished with my trans or not. If they are then tomorrow I'll be getting an EcuTek reflash also :) Maybe I'll see ya there!
