View Full Version : TXS Tuner....
bunot 08-02-2004, 02:57 AM ....thinking about buying this. price has gone down and i need a wideband 02 sensor to tune with. comments from owners. is it accurate? has the bosch sensor craped out on you? how many miles has your car logged with the Tuna? worth the money? if you could do it over, would you buy this or an FJO? thanks.

Jason,
I just order one from Turboxs. I used to own a FJO and I will say that the FJO was very accurate when comparing to a dynojet Wideband. If you have the utec it makes sense for you to just get the Tuna as it will log with the UTEC. Plus the price on the FJO is higher.
happasaiyan 08-06-2004, 04:51 PM just get it! it is invaluable!
esp for the price.
ive been running mine since i got the STi UTEC (maybe 5-6k miles) and the sensor is still going strong.
big_adventure 08-06-2004, 05:09 PM I've got close to 10K on mine, and the sensor still works well. Plus, they're $50 from VW.

pegdrgr 08-06-2004, 05:56 PM I have 2 :)
It is a great tool, and I go with what it tells me over the readings of the WB when on the dyno.
cky211 08-30-2004, 10:45 PM So what is everybody going with Tuner or Tuner Pro?
big_adventure 08-31-2004, 09:01 AM When everybody posting here bought theirs, there was not a choice - only the Tuner Pro (called simply the Tuner, then) was available.
-Sean
hippy 08-31-2004, 01:39 PM Yeh, I dunno if it's the only difference, but the main difference is that the tuner doesn't have knock sensor capability and the pro does (and includes a knock sensor/headphone jack).....
ride5000 08-31-2004, 01:49 PM it also lacks analog + digital logging inputs.
bunot 08-31-2004, 05:42 PM i would have gone with the Tuna if it was available for less price.
mick_the_ginge 08-31-2004, 06:35 PM New Tuna's available - look at the TurboXS website

too late. i alreayd bought and installed the tuna pro on my car about a month ago. had i known a cheaper verison was going to be released, i would have waited.
cky211 08-31-2004, 08:28 PM Is the extra knock sensor really needed?
Would I use the extra inputs?
I'm interested in the Air/fuel for tuning my UTEC.

pegdrgr 08-31-2004, 10:45 PM Most people will be fine with the tuner, although the Tuner Pro does allow for you to broaden your horizon in the future.
hippy 08-31-2004, 11:13 PM The knock sensor isn't needed, but it helps with tuning.
ride5000 09-01-2004, 09:56 AM what's the difference? 70 bucks? it's worth it.
hippy 09-01-2004, 10:03 AM A few weeks ago the tuner pro was on sale for $599, but right now it looks like it's back to $699. The tuner costs $399-480 so that would be at least $220 more for the pro(if not $300)......
InfamousDX 09-01-2004, 05:26 PM My new TXS dp has a bung for an o2 I would assume that I plugged up with a bolt. I can just screw in the o2 sensor that comes with the Tuner into that? And hookup seems to be as easy as power + serial cable to UTEC + running the o2 sensor wires.... yes?
Also what's better... VW or Bosch sensor?
pegdrgr 09-01-2004, 07:14 PM Installation is straight forward, nothing tought about it.
Bosch is faster responding.
