Hey MEN of NASIOC  :

I am a very impatient person. When I want peformance I want it now!

This is my situation I have a stock 2004 WRX with about 5000 miles on it, I have decided that Engine Management would be my 1st performance modification. In addition, Cobb's products seem to appeal to me most right now.

However, I do not want to WAIT 3 months for an accessPORT :furious:
So, I am considering getting the accessECU. I can be stage 1 within 1-2 days however I am stuck in stage 1 and can not go back to stock right? Where as with the accessPORT you can go from stock, stage 1 or stage 2 including valet mode..

If necessary will Cobb reflash your ECU back to stock if you have the accessECU reflash?

Anyways, the appealing things about the accessECU:

*Little wait for performance!
*Cheaper
*Can upgrade in future!

downsides:

*can't flash back to stock if necessary

Appealing things about accessPORT:

*stock, stage 1, stage 2 and valet maps to switch from at anytime
*can go from stage 1 to stage 2 when upgrade with bolt ons
*can reflash back to stock if u have to go to dealer

downsides:

*LONG wait
*more expensive

So, what do you guys think I should do?? Opinions, ideas, thoughts appreciated!!
Also, anyone with accessECU's and/or people who upgraded from accessECU to accessPORT's please let me know your experiences the pro's and con's etc.

thanks MEN of NASIOC :disco: :disco:

i would try buying the access port from one of cobb's dealers, i'm not sure which one.. also.. maybe you could try the personal for sale forum? personally, i would wait.. but that's just me

don't even with Cobb's vendors you have to wait the 6-8 weeks for them to place the order??
correct me if i'm wrong..
i dunno if i feel comfortable buy electronics used things like rims and tires are different.. $600 on a broken used accessPORT would piss me off that's why i wouldn't buy it from someone used.

i'd say, if you're planning on staying with the stock turbo for a while and want to get just about as much juice from that little stocker, i'd say get a reflash for stage 2, with however all the supporting mods which include a turbo-back exhaust and possibly an up-pipe for better spool-up. stage 2 doesn't limit you to minor mods, however, you should check with cobb on that. stage 2 will make you smile i can guarantee that.

The backorder from the accessports are if you buy from Cobb themselves (cobbtuning.com) I made two calls and found a vendor that had some in stock. This was last friday and it shiped out today. However this was for my STi.

Buy from someone like Hotsubaru (Subaru of Dallas, a sponser of nabisco). Shorter wait. Only have to buy through Cobb if you are upgrading from AccessECU.

Listen to brizey.

HotSubaru has 5 AccessPorts in stock (specific for the 2004 WRX). You can get one delivered next day air if you're willing to pay the outrageous shipping charges. The UPS ground shipping will probably run less than $20, and you could have your AccessPort by the end of the week.

Mine is scheduled for delivery on Wednesday!

ok ok

some logic
question 1 can you get 93 octane
if yes access port ...it will allow you to switch to a 91 map if you need to (ie road trip)

question 2 are you going to want to upgrade to stage 2
see question 3

question 3 does cobb still sell access port upgrades?
if yes get reflash and get in line for AP upgrade

Who are the Cobb vendors that I can call to possibly get an accessport quickly for an 02 WRX?
