Read this thread before you decide that DOHC is the shizzy. Two is not by definition better than one. Unfortunately Pat Olsen's dyno is no longer hosted, but the discussion is still relevant...

Only in the 98 2.5rs, EJ25 phase1 has the dual gc8 your looking for.

didn't the ealry outback models, like 96, have double'? i think some outbacks had them at some point in time.

No North American DOHC 2.5l until 1996, then only in GT, LSi and Outback. The 1996 is a little different with 10 less hp and takes premium.
