Any feedback of people running these 24/7. I have heard of a few who have with no problems but I am a little suspicious of running these all the time as the subframe is designed to move, although for comfort.

CTKAG 08-04-2004, 01:53 PM Had them on for over a year now - no issues. -Keith- Uncle Scotty 08-04-2004, 08:46 PM Had them on for over a year now - no issues. -Keith- ;)^^^^^^^^;) Me too... redobs 08-04-2004, 08:51 PM Are you guys running rear camber bolts? I heard the lock kits add a lot of additional negative rear camber. Uncle Scotty 08-04-2004, 11:09 PM Are you guys running rear camber bolts? I heard the lock kits add a lot of additional negative rear camber. Impossible. The subframe lockbolts can not alter camber unless the sub-frame was out of proper position when the car was aligned...and then the sub-frame was shifted back to proper position to install the lockbolts....and then it would be + camber on one side and - camber on the other. They are on the short list of mods I'd do to a new or unmodded WRX if I got ahold of one ;) NicGordon 08-05-2004, 02:33 AM Had them on for over a year now - no issues. -Keith- Me three. LyveWRX 08-05-2004, 10:32 AM me four, 40some thousand miles no troubles! North Ursalia 08-05-2004, 09:33 PM Impossible. Well, you can tell that to the -1.5 degrees I have of camber I have with them in and the 0 degrees of camber I have without them in, but it's still going to be there. Happened to Kha0S's car too. As for duration of them being in, I'm nearing if not surpassing 2 years now :). I'd REALLY like to know.....if someone who can give an adequate explanation will chime in, I'm ALL EARS. jeffg 08-06-2004, 12:56 PM The only thing I can think here is that when Brian installed his lock kit it actually lifted the subframe up. It pulled it closer to the frame of the car and thus changed the angle of the lower lateral links in relation to the ground. The shallower angle actually made the distance from the differential carrier to the hub longer. Thus negative camber. I know that when I put my locks in I tightened them down until I couldnt do it anymore by hand. It could be that some of us dont have the subframe in the same spot as those that are seeing camber changes. I do know that my subframe doesnt move much at all anymore, and its a good thing. J drees 08-06-2004, 01:32 PM How bad is the added NVH with the subframe locks, and how tolerable is it for a daily driver? How does the car feel before/after the install? Edit: Nevermind, found this thread: Whiteline rear subframe lock bolts (http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=508250&highlight=whiteline+subframe) Uncle Scotty 08-06-2004, 09:51 PM My car is getting a bit 'busy' as far as NVH is concerned.....but considering all the mods I've got....not too bad. Weemus 08-07-2004, 08:10 PM been running them for 8+ months, no prob and my camber did not change until I added camber bolts to dial out some of the negative camber to help the car rotate. Uncle Scotty 08-09-2004, 08:43 PM What are you running for rear camber? ~ -1.8° redobs 08-09-2004, 10:06 PM Yeah, that doesn't sound like substantial rear camber. I guess I'll find out on Friday when I go get an alignment.:) Uncle Scotty 08-09-2004, 11:49 PM ...that's with rear camber bolts ADDING neg camber....and lowered....and.... 0260B4U 08-10-2004, 11:26 PM SO these things just help stiffen the chassis? was thinking of getting some, worth the bang for the buck? ebeck 08-13-2004, 09:10 PM Just a point for those of you converned about noise. It can be dealt with. I added Dynamat extreme. The thin light stuff. Alot. Whoooooole rear trunk area, whooooole pass seat area and driver doors. Probably added 30 pounds. I lost 20 pounds and have brakes that are 40 pounds lighter than stock so I'm still ahead. With solid camber plates front and rear, coilovers, 18', JDM valve train, full STI mounts and 18" wheels my car is not noisy or busy. Way quieter tha a bone stock WRX. I still do not understand the "weaken the chasis" part in the documentation. I have the locks but have not put them in yet. Conduit 08-14-2004, 09:15 PM I lost 20 pounds... You go girl! :disco: :disco: :disco: :D   ebeck 08-16-2004, 02:11 PM Yep, I',m hot! ride5000 08-17-2004, 04:18 PM i agree with the added -ve camber. no numbers from me, but it DOES seem to suck the subframe tighter up against the main chassis of the car. that would indeed give you a bit more -ve camber. it also makes your rear ASB a little bit more effective, since the pivot points of the ASB are on the main car chassis. less flex between subframe and chassis = less compliance in the rear ASB. ken redobs 08-26-2004, 01:23 PM Well, got the car aligned today and didn't have any more negative camber than expected. About -5 Left Rear and -7 Right Rear. D_REX 08-27-2004, 11:22 AM Well, got the car aligned today and didn't have any more negative camber than expected. About -5 Left Rear and -7 Right Rear. Those are REALLY big numbers. I hope you meant -0.5 and -0.7 ;) Kha0S 08-27-2004, 12:19 PM Been running them for nearly two years, no problems except for the aforementioned camber. Threw in a set of camber bolts to dial them back out, worked like a charm. /Andrew |
