Hi all,

I'm back from a wonderful two week trip in Hong Kong and mainland China.

Saw many WRX's in HK, and got to sit in a 99 or 2000 WRX ver VI coupe (it was new darnit).....sorry they wouldn't let me drive it ;(

I did get many contacts in Hong Kong though and got some great pricing for Cusco and Tein items...not to mention picked up a few things for myself. I will be working to organize some buys from these folks.....so when I get things settled I will post to all with prices and availability. One guy sells GAB, HKS and STI hardware as well.

Sorry that I missed out on Thunderhill, but I think I have a great excuse.

Got to go.....have much to unpack

P.S. Randy, the WL shippment is at my folks...I will try and get it this week....if not, then lets plan for an installfest on the 14th and go from there.

You're back from Hong Kong, and I'm here for three more months.

What's up Bay Area? Eddy, you missed out on Track Day.

The Subaru dealership has some schwag with two WRX's, a Legacy B4, a Forester, and some other Wagon. Yep there are tons of Skylines, EVos, and WRX's here.

I understand Japan is the place to go though. An Evo 7 there is a common man's car.

Eddy.. if you need any due diligence out here, let me know. I'm living in Wan Chai

eddy,

i'm going to HK in a month. i'm looking forward on seeing a real WRX, i would love to touch one, just touch...it'll be a bonus to sit or drive one (hey, if they let me drive it, let's stop dreaming from there). when i frend was there he said, on one street there was a R34, supra, and evo parked together on one block! what are there to buy there that has to do with STi, or subaru. are they cheaper than us? a lot? can you email me or something about info or stores i should visit in HK. thanks

To WRX007,

I saw many EVO's and other supped up Cars....many of which are not well known here. I also saw many Italian supercars there as well.

What got my attention are the Nissan Skyline GTS, now those are sweet cars. Especially when they are modded.

When I was in HK I saw many WRX's on the street. The best place to go if you want to touch a WRX (Without pissing off the owner) is to go to the dealership on Hong Kong Island in WAN CHAI. It is on the corner of Gloucester Road and Fleming Road. They had a 2000 WRX Sti Ver VI Silver Coupe there as of 1 week ago. The price is about $329,000 HKD (at 7.796HKD to 1.00USD) Take MTR to get there (same as BART here, only better).....

as to getting STi stuff, the dealership can direct you to their seller. Prices can be higher in Hong Kong, especially if they try figuring in the Guilo Tax (thats what I call it anyway....where the locals will charge you more because you are a foreigner and can probably afford the extra......if they have prices listed on the items, you are safe....no price, watchout) I was fortunate, my wife is Chinese, so I went with her to ask on prices....they were not in such a hurry to jack the price with her with me....it is not so much a problem in HK then it is in the mainland so you should not worry too much.....just know how much you expect the item to go for....then compare with the price the dealer gives.....if too high ask for a lower price.....if he refuses then walk away.....many times they will agree are will barter....but be prepared to walk from the shop without getting the item....you will save much that way.

Sorry for the long explanation.....just wanted to let you know how it is over there.....I am sure CraigC is a better judge of how it is in Hong Kong....as I have spent most of my time in Guangzhou...then in HK.

Hey craig... you better be back in time for our next track event, whenever that may be, so we can chase each other around the track again!

You considering setting up a few buys for us Bay Area folks too?

Dave,

I'll be back for our next track event, don't worry.

I could try to set up a group buy if you guys are interested, but things usually are more expensive here. Luckily I'm not a guilo (caucasian), but I'm not local so I will have to bring along someone who is.

WRX 007-when you come out.. e-mail me, we'll grab some drinks in Lan Kwai Fong.

JZ,

don't worry, you only have to be 18 to drink here. bring your id.

Car parts would probably best be found in Kowloon-Prince Edward I here.
