I guess in theroy you could use the Stock STI water spray tank and change out the nozzels and wire it up to the UTEC to control and every thing should work fine Right correct me if i am wrong.

<<<<<< not sure on the factory pump specs..that might have an efect on the out come.
has any one done this yet.

I really didn't want to spend any more on the beast just now. I think I actually thought to myself, perhaps 2 days ago, that if I could find all of the WI parts for $200 I'd go for it.

And there it is, just like magic.

I've already ordered all the parts, including 5 and 10 GPH jets.

Race gas all the time! Plus, at $200, I'll make it up in fuel economy.

The same way. If you go to the Aquamist site, you can see the schematic for the 2c on its page. There are 2 lead wires into the solenoid.

They trick you by calling it a "high-speed inline valve". This is English for "solenoid" ;)

Actually the high speed valve is just that. It's not just a solenoid as it can operate at 250hz to actually control the flow water. This combined with either a spare mappable channel on an ECU (like those available on a MoTeC for instance) or the MF2, Aquamist's own WI controller, or finally the FIA thing that Aquamist to do link water flow to injector duty cycle.

An ordinary solenoid isn't up to the job of metering, but fine if you are just turning the WI on and off at set operating points.

Yeah, I know, I read the good stuff on it. If the kit wasn't so freakin' expensive, I would have considered it or pieces of it.

I was just making the answer simple, rather than overly complex. Given that all of that info is on the website in public domain, I didn't see the need to repeat it for someone who didn't want to search. As it turns out, the individual in question has a 1c a-mist kit, and was looking for ideas to add UTEC control to it.

Nope... just use the nozzles built in screens.

Well, after selling off all the parts I've sold off, I think that's about it. Gross, it's somewhat more, well, gross.

Gross, it's a lot closer to 30 than 20. And don't forget, I replaced motor/tranny/etc BEFORE any of them broke.

The term HSV is not inaccurate or misleading, leading someone to believe a part meant to be an on or off static valve (i.e. generic solenoid) is the same thing would be inaccurate.

turbophoon, if you search through summer 2003 posts you will see where an Aussie in St. Louis ( < don't recall the screen name but it relates to that) hooked up the HSV to the UTEC boost control. He got a patch from TXS to the software though so that he could map the duty cycles more cleanly for his 2d.

My experience with the HSV part from Aquamist was not a good one. After about 9 months, it started leaking.... every drop of water it drips, it kicks the pump back on (because the pressure behind it drops). When it started leaking, my pump would kick on for about a half second.... stop for 4 seconds.... drip... on.... drip... on.... drip... :furious:

Could I use this solenoid valve to replace my aquamist part? Looks like it works in exactly the same way.

Yes you can if it will operate at the frequency you require and has a responsive open/close time - if you are using it to meter the rate of water. If you just want an on/off static valve sure almost any solenoid would do. Why haven't you returned the HSV for warranty?

I tried doing warranty return, but it was well past the warranty date when it broke. Its a fairly expensive part, and both Sponaugle and mine broke down at about the same time.

I would just use it for on/off, at a specific duty cycle. I'll probably go ahead and get this, but control it with my Hydra at some point :D

Then there is no reason to use the boost control function of UTEC to trigger the WI, UTEC has a binary switch that would handle that function just fine.

Thats pretty much what I was intending to do. Hook the aquamist up to the auxilliary solenoid wire coming out of the utec. I could as big adventure had mentioned to me before hook the utec up to a relay to trigger the aquamist on and off. I'm still not sure if you can simply bypass the pressure switch by connecting the 2 leads together, or if that is ok for the system to handle?

Aquamist would recommend putting in series with the pressure switch. That is a result of 1. they like mechanical backup to the control of the on/off condition of the pump and 2. they do not know the specs of the UTEC trigger circuits.

If you are not going to include the pressure switch actively in the series, you should just exclude it completely. Connect the two wires that would have gone to the pressure switch to the normally closed side of a relay and use the UTEC grounding circuit to open the relay activating the 1s.
